Start at Epic’s sign-in page and select Trouble signing in? Enter the email linked to your account and follow the recovery option shown. If you know the error message, use the matching steps below: a password reset, an alternate 2FA method, account recovery, or browser and launcher troubleshooting may each be needed.
First, match the fix to the error
Epic’s login guidance covers several different problems, including invalid credentials, 2FA errors, linked-platform conflicts, cookie errors, rate limits, and account recovery. Read the exact message and follow its relevant path in Epic’s login-error guide rather than repeatedly trying different passwords or changing unrelated settings.

If your password or sign-in details are rejected
- Check that you are entering the email address associated with the Epic account. If your browser autofills credentials, turn autofill off and enter them manually; check that your keyboard language is correct.
- On the sign-in page, select Forgot Password or Trouble signing in? and follow the password-reset prompts.
- Check the associated email inbox for Epic’s security code and use it to reset the password. If you cannot access that email, go to the account recovery steps below.
Epic’s account access recovery instructions explain how to begin the recovery flow.
If two-factor authentication (2FA) is blocking sign-in
A code is invalid or expired
- For an email or SMS code, request a fresh one and use the newest code rather than an earlier message.
- For an authenticator app code, wait for the code to refresh and make sure the device clock is set to automatic synchronization.
- Select Try another way if Epic offers another verification method for your account.
You no longer have your usual 2FA method
At the verification prompt, choose Try another way. Use email verification or an authenticator backup code if either is available. If you cannot verify with any offered method, continue through Epic’s instructions for lost 2FA access and the account recovery process.

If you cannot access the email on your Epic account
- Open Epic’s sign-in page and choose Trouble signing in? Enter the email address you believe is associated with the account.
- If Epic does not find the account, or the flow takes you to the wrong account, choose Recover account where offered.
- If the account email is inaccessible, select Lost access to this email address? and provide the requested information.
Epic may ask for identifying account details. For an inaccessible email or other recovery case, use the official account recovery instructions, not a third-party service.
If the browser or Epic Games Launcher keeps looping
Browser sign-in
- Clear the browser’s cache and cookies, then try signing in again.
- Try a private browsing window or a different browser.
- Disconnect a VPN or proxy service before retrying.
Epic Games Launcher sign-in
- Close the Epic Games Launcher fully.
- Clear the launcher’s cache.
- Reopen the launcher and try signing in again.
Epic’s login-error guide has the applicable troubleshooting guidance for browser, launcher, and cookie-related errors.

If Epic says you have tried too many times
Stop retrying rapidly. Epic says the rate-limit block clears automatically: wait a few minutes, and if it remains, wait 24 hours. Epic Support cannot speed up that reset, so repeated attempts are unlikely to help.
If the error involves a linked PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or social account
Check that you are using the intended console or external account. For some linking errors, Epic recommends signing in with the Epic account email or trying a private window or another browser. If the message indicates that the external account is already linked to a different Epic account, the conflict may require a support request. See the relevant section of Epic’s login-error guide.

If you suspect someone else accessed your account
- Reset your Epic Games password.
- Change the password for the email account connected to Epic. If you cannot access that mailbox, recover it through the email provider.
- Secure the email account with a unique password and 2FA.
- If you previously linked an external account, try using it to sign in. If that does not restore access, use Epic’s account recovery flow.
Epic’s compromised-account guidance covers these security steps.

The recovery form may ask for details that help identify the account. Provide accurate information you know; do not guess. Useful details to gather include:
Rank #4
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
- An email address you can access and want to use going forward, plus prior email addresses used on the account.
- Current and previous display names, and the country and name used when the account was created.
- Linked console or social accounts, including their IDs or names and approximate dates they were linked.
- Purchase or payment details, if requested. An Account ID or Invoice ID can help Epic locate the account more accurately.
Submit the request through Epic’s account recovery form. Epic says it reviews the request and emails the result to the new address you provide. Its instructions state: “We can only process account recovery requests submitted through this form.”
