If Clash Royale won’t open, freezes on its loading screen, crashes, or shows a connection warning, start by force-closing the game, restarting your phone or tablet, and checking for game and system updates. Those low-risk steps address common app problems without deleting data. If they do not help, use the steps for your device and check whether other apps or online services are also having trouble.
First, identify what is failing
Note whether Clash Royale closes immediately, gets stuck on the splash or loading screen, displays a connection warning, or opens but cannot enter a match. Also check whether other apps and online services work. These clues help you decide whether to focus on the game, device, or connection, but no single symptom proves the cause.
If the problem began after a game update, check the App Store or Google Play for another available update. If the issue appears to affect online services more broadly, avoid jumping straight to reinstalling the game: a device-level change may not fix a connection problem or server maintenance.
Try the low-risk fixes first
- Close Clash Royale completely using your device’s app-switching controls, then reopen it.
- Restart your phone or tablet, then try launching the game again.
- Check for updates. Open the App Store on iPhone or iPad, or Google Play on Android, and install any available Clash Royale update. Then check your device settings for an operating-system update.

If you’re using Android
Force-stop the game and clear its cache
If the basic steps do not work, open Android’s app settings, select Clash Royale, and choose Force stop. Menu names and locations vary by device and Android version. Reopen the game. If it still fails, return to the app’s storage settings and clear its cache, if that option is available. Google includes force-stopping and clearing an app’s cache among its troubleshooting steps for an app that will not work.
Leave clearing data and uninstalling until later
Clearing app data or uninstalling can remove data stored locally by the app. Treat either as a later step rather than a first response, and make sure you understand the risk before proceeding. If other apps work normally but Clash Royale still does not, Google recommends contacting the app’s developer.

If you’re using an iPhone or iPad
After force-closing the game, restarting the device, and checking for updates, Apple’s next suggested step for an app that will not open is to delete it and download it again from the App Store. Apple warns that deleting an app may remove data stored in it. If you are unsure whether your game progress is secured, contact Supercell before deleting the app. If reinstalling does not resolve the problem, contact the developer through Supercell’s support options.

Check your connection and possible maintenance
If the game shows a connection warning, cannot load online features, or fails to let you enter a match, try a reliable network and close background apps. Supercell lists weak signal or reception, low device performance, and server downtime or maintenance among possible causes of unstable connections. Its guidance also recommends using the latest game version, clearing cache, and restarting. The article is hosted in the Clash of Clans support section but explicitly discusses Clash Royale, including connection problems that prevent players from deploying cards: Supercell’s unstable-connection guidance.
These connection suggestions apply when connectivity is part of the symptom; they do not establish that every loading failure is a network problem. For current support notices and contact routes, check the Clash Royale support portal. The sources cited here do not establish whether an outage or maintenance event is underway at any particular moment.

Check whether your device meets Supercell’s published requirements
Supercell lists the following minimum specifications in its crash guidance. The support article does not display a publication date, and requirements can change, so verify the current support page and app-store listing if compatibility may be the issue.

Meeting the minimum does not guarantee smooth performance. Supercell says it cannot guarantee these specifications alone will be enough to run the game smoothly, and notes that modified operating systems or custom ROMs may cause instability. See Supercell’s crash guidance.

If the game remains broken after the steps for your device, use the support options in the Clash Royale support portal. Include your device model, operating-system version, what happens when you launch the game, whether other apps work, and when the issue began. That context helps distinguish an app-specific failure from a wider device or connection problem.
