This step is appropriate when the app opened once but has stopped responding, displays a temporary error, or returns to the desktop. It does not change app settings or remove local data.
2. Why does restarting Windows matter after an update?

3. Install Windows updates and update Microsoft Store
Install available Windows updates, then update Microsoft Store itself. Microsoft’s general Store-app guidance places both checks early because an outdated Windows component or Store client can interfere with downloading, updating, or launching a Store-distributed game.

4. How do you repair Microsoft Solitaire Collection?
On Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Microsoft Solitaire Collection, select the three-dot menu, choose Advanced options, and select Repair if available.
Repair attempts to recover the app without using the stronger Reset action. Microsoft documents Repair before Reset in its Store-app recovery guidance. After Repair finishes, launch Solitaire and test the same action that previously failed.

5. When should you reset Microsoft Solitaire Collection?

6. How do you clear the Microsoft Store cache?
Press Windows key + R, enter wsreset.exe, and select OK. Microsoft says a blank Command Prompt window opens, closes after about ten seconds, and Microsoft Store opens automatically; see the Microsoft Store cache-reset instructions.
Use this step when Microsoft Store will not open, downloads are stuck, updates fail, or the Solitaire listing behaves abnormally. The command resets the Microsoft Store cache. It does not reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection, remove Windows, or delete the entire Store.
7. What if Microsoft Store will not open?
If Microsoft Store itself will not launch, run wsreset.exe first and check that Windows time and location settings are correct. Microsoft specifically recommends checking these settings among the remedies for a Store that does not open, so treat the check as a Store-access remedy rather than proof of a Solitaire-specific cause.
Open Windows settings and verify that the system clock, time zone, and location are not clearly incorrect. Microsoft’s Store guidance also covers additional Store-access checks in its documentation on Microsoft Store not opening.
8. Reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection only after recovery steps fail
If restarting, updates, Store updates, Repair, Reset, and the cache reset do not help, uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection through Microsoft Store. Microsoft lists reinstalling as a later Store-app troubleshooting step in its official recovery guidance.
Before reinstalling, confirm that you know the Microsoft account associated with the app and understand that local app state may not be retained.
