What shards are used for
The cited recipe references identify the colored shards as materials for crafting Star Pieces, not as standalone quest items. A Star Piece recipe consumes three shards of each color plus one bag of Stardust. Serebii’s Star Piece recipe lists the full quantities.
Where to craft a Star Piece
The recipe is listed in Jubilife Village. The official Pokémon Legends: Arceus gameplay page says, “You can craft items using the workbenches found at base camps and in Jubilife Village.” A GameWith guide reports that the village craftsman offers the Star Piece recipe as the story progresses to Cobalt Coastlands; this is guide-reported progression rather than a detail stated on the official gameplay page. GameWith’s shard guide covers the recipe’s availability.
Should you craft or sell the materials?
GameWith reported a Star Piece sale value of ₽5,000 in its guide updated March 3, 2022. That is the guide’s reported value, not an official price listed on the gameplay page. A sale value alone does not establish whether crafting yields more money: that comparison also depends on the sale values of the shards and Stardust, as well as whether you already have access to the recipe.
