None is a sequel to GTA 6 or a direct substitute for its particular mix of driving, crime, and open-world action.
Which game is the best fit after GTA 6?
| Game | Satirical focus | Play structure | Best fit if you want |
|---|---|---|---|
| Watch Dogs 2 | Technology culture and Silicon Valley, as characterized by GamesRadar+’s GTA comparison guide | Contemporary city action sandbox | Urban exploration, action, and tech-industry jokes |
| Disco Elysium: The Final Cut | Politics and social systems conveyed through character, dialogue, and setting | Dialogue-led detective RPG and investigation | A distinctive city, political texture, and meaningful role-playing choices |
| The Outer Worlds | Corporate power, consumer culture, and the abuse of power, as described by co-director Leonard Boyarsky | Science-fiction RPG | Satire in a spacefaring setting and a story shaped by dialogue and choices |
The strongest choice depends on whether you value action freedom, political role-playing, or a different satirical setting. For a modern city sandbox, start with Watch Dogs 2. For the most politically textured role-playing experience among these options, choose Disco Elysium. Choose The Outer Worlds if corporate satire in a science-fiction RPG sounds more appealing than a contemporary city.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is the political-RPG choice
In Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, you play a detective investigating a murder in Revachol. The case opens onto events affecting the city and its inhabitants, with exploration across streets and beaches. The official game site describes it as an open-world role-playing game in which a detective uses a distinctive skill system to make a path across a city block. PlayStation’s Canada listing likewise describes an open-world RPG and lists PS4 and PS5 versions.
This is the pick if you want a city with political and social texture, plus room to shape your character through dialogue and role-playing. It is not the closest match for GTA’s driving, combat, or action-sandbox rhythm: its center of gravity is investigation, conversation, and character.

Watch Dogs 2 is the closer match for a modern city sandbox
Watch Dogs 2 suits players who want to stay in a contemporary urban setting and keep action and exploration in the foreground. GamesRadar+’s guide to games like GTA presents it as a more GTA-like tonal follow-up to the first Watch Dogs, and describes its satire as aimed at Silicon Valley and technology companies. That is the guide’s editorial assessment, not a guarantee that every player will find the humor effective.
Choose it over Disco Elysium if a city sandbox matters more than dialogue-heavy political role-playing. GamesRadar+ lists PC, PS4, and Xbox One for the game; check the store for your region and platform before buying.

The Outer Worlds brings corporate satire to science fiction
The Outer Worlds is not a contemporary city sandbox. It is a science-fiction RPG whose satire addresses corporations, consumer culture, and power. In a 2019 GameSpot interview report, co-director Leonard Boyarsky said, “I don’t want people to think this is a really hard, politically charged game: it’s supposed to be fun, it’s supposed to be humorous.” He described its focus as how power is used against people without it, rather than as a direct critique of capitalism, and said the developers wanted to poke fun at consumer culture without making the game feel like a lecture.
That description is Boyarsky’s account of the game’s intended tone, not a definitive interpretation of every player’s experience. The original game first released on October 25, 2019, and GameSpot lists Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Those retrospective platform details do not confirm current store stock.

A separate GamesRadar+ interview recap about The Outer Worlds 2 quotes game director Brandon Adler describing the series’ approach as a critique of power structures, particularly how people in power abuse those without it. His comments concern the sequel and the series’ approach; they should not be taken as a definitive reading of the original game.
