The first footage from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, shown to CinemaCon attendees on April 11, 2024, reportedly found Dr. Robotnik defeated and living amid a neglected lab before Shadow emerged as a possible new weapon against Sonic. The clip was described by attendees’ coverage; it was not released publicly as a watchable CinemaCon trailer.
What happened in the CinemaCon teaser?
In TheWrap’s April 11, 2024 report, Jeremy Fuster described Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik as “utterly ruined” after another defeat by Sonic. The report said Robotnik’s assistant, Agent Stone, found a possible way to challenge Sonic by discovering Shadow. It also attributed a line to Knuckles describing Shadow as “much more impressive than the hedgehog I fought previously.” These are details reported from the screening, not a publicly available transcript. Nintendo Wire’s April 12 account added visual details: Robotnik’s lab was neglected, his hair disheveled, and Stone said they had “found him” before handing Robotnik one of Sonic’s quills. The article says Robotnik licked the quill, shouted “Let’s do this!”, and then appeared in a makeover montage before Shadow awakened. Its account goes on to describe a confrontation involving Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. Was Shadow in the footage?
Yes. Both reports described Shadow’s discovery or awakening as the turn in the teaser. The setup suggested that Robotnik might use the new arrival to take on Sonic, while Paramount’s official film listing later confirmed the broader premise: Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails face Shadow. Can you watch the CinemaCon teaser?
The reviewed coverage describes what CinemaCon attendees saw, but does not provide a publicly released copy of that event footage. Paramount later published a separate official public trailer on August 27, 2024. That trailer is not the CinemaCon teaser, so it should not be presented as the same clip. What was the film’s release date?
Paramount Global Content lists Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as a theatrical feature with a December 20, 2024 premiere. Paramount Press Express later announced that the film began streaming on Paramount+ on February 18, 2025; availability can vary by region and change over time.
