Ubisoft framed the season as preparation for a wider evolution of Siege—not as the full Siege X reveal, which had its own showcase announced for March 13.
What was Operation Prep Phase?
Operation Prep Phase was the name of Rainbow Six Siege Year 10 Season 1. Ubisoft’s season overview lists March 2025 as its release month. The update’s central new operator was Rauora, supported by changes to player reputation and matchmaking.
The season also served as a lead-in to a separate announcement: Ubisoft said the full Siege X reveal would take place during a live showcase on March 13. In other words, Operation Prep Phase introduced a season of its own while setting the stage for a broader game evolution.
How does Rauora’s D.O.M. gadget work?
Rauora is an attacker from New Zealand. Her D.O.M. (Deployable Omnilink Mesh) Panel Launcher attaches bulletproof panels to doorways. She can deploy the panels from a distance, then use a trigger at the top of a door to open or close them, changing how players move through that entrance and how an engagement unfolds. A closed panel can obstruct a route; opening it can restore access or expose the doorway to a push.

That makes the gadget a way to influence access and combat flow rather than a permanent seal: Rauora’s team can change the state of a panel as the round develops. Ubisoft’s season detail page lists her launch loadout options as follows:

What changed with Reputation and matchmaking?
The Reputation System moved out of beta
Operation Prep Phase marked the full release of the Reputation System, and Ubisoft said player standings would reset at the season’s launch. The restrictions described for that launch were tier-specific:

Dynamic Matchmaking was updated
Ubisoft said the update would optimize matching according to how many requests were being sent to the server. Its stated aim was to support both densely and sparsely populated regions and seek higher-quality matches during peak periods. The announcement describes Ubisoft’s intended effect; it does not provide independent performance measurements.

How Rauora was unlocked at launch
In its launch announcement and Rauora guide, Ubisoft said Rauora was available at the start of the season through the Battle Pass, then became unlockable two weeks later using Renown or R6 Credits. Those were launch-era terms and do not establish her current availability or unlock requirements.

Ubisoft presented Operation Prep Phase as a season that set up a major evolution of Siege. The full Siege X reveal was announced for a separate live showcase on March 13. Keeping those events distinct matters: Y10S1 was the March 2025 season update, while the showcase was where Ubisoft said it would reveal the broader evolution.
