In April 2025, reports described some Marvel Rivals Strategist players stepping away from the support role after streamer Vladan “Necros” Konstantinov criticized support players. “Strike” was the community and headline framing—not evidence of a formal organization, a verified number of participants, or a measurable matchmaking disruption.
What happened in the Marvel Rivals support “strike”?
Insider Gaming reported on April 23, 2025, that Necros, a former Overwatch professional who had moved to Marvel Rivals, called support players “idiots” and “morons” in March. Those words are attributed to the outlet’s reporting; they should not be treated as independently verified transcript excerpts. Insider Gaming’s report described backlash and said some players who mainly played Strategist stopped playing the role or the game.
The report relayed a post by a self-identified Strategist who said the remarks did “real damage” and that players wanted basic respect. The player’s statement represents an individual perspective, not a poll. The same report noted that other commenters urged Strategist players to disregard the criticism and keep playing.
Insider Gaming said the Reddit post at the center of its report had nearly 9,000 upvotes. That is an engagement figure reported by the outlet, not a count of players who joined a protest or a measure of opinion across the game’s player base.

Why did players object to the comments?
The dispute was about more than the label applied to a role: players quoted in the coverage objected to a prominent community figure disparaging people who played Strategist. The source material supports describing that reaction as a call for respect, but not as a unified list of demands or the position of all Strategist players.
Dexerto’s April 24, 2025 coverage also called the reaction a “strike.” It described Strategists as vulnerable to dives and noted that role lock was absent at that time. That is contemporaneous secondary reporting, not a current official account of Marvel Rivals rules. Read Dexerto’s report.

Was there a coordinated boycott, and did it affect matchmaking?
The available reporting describes some players refusing to play Strategist or leaving the game, but it does not establish a formal organization, a verified participant count, or coordinated action at a measurable scale. The cited sources provide no queue-time or matchmaking data, and no reliable breakdown by platform, rank, or season. Claims that the protest emptied queues or represented all Strategists go beyond the evidence.
The “strike” label is therefore best read as a description of reported protest behavior and community framing, not a verified operational account of a large-scale boycott.

Did the strike lead to a Strategist balance change?
No documented connection is established between the 2025 controversy and NetEase’s later balance changes. In its official Version 20260911 post dated September 8, 2026, NetEase announced that Strategists’ healing-to-energy conversion would decrease from 70% to 65%, and damage-to-energy conversion from 55% to 50%.
