GameSpot’s January 4, 2024 video, PlayStation 5 – Official “Upcoming Games In 2024” Trailer, is a dated roundup of games players could look forward to that year—not a current release calendar. Its description names 18 titles, spanning sequels, remakes, and new releases.
Which games does the trailer description name?
The listing by GameSpot, with a byline for Ben Janca, describes the video as a look at “some of the best upcoming games for PlayStation 5” in the year ahead. Its description names:
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Helldivers 2
- Tekken 8
- Stellar Blade
- Rise of the Ronin
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Concord
- Pacific Drive
- Silent Hill 2
- Dragon’s Dogma II
- Forever Skies
- The Plucky Squire
- Foamstars
- The Casting of Frank Stone
- Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
These are titles named in the video description; that wording does not establish that every game is a PlayStation Studios production or a PS5 exclusive. GameSpot’s video listing was published January 4, 2024.
What kind of roundup is it?
The slate mixes established series and remakes with new entries and original titles. Examples include Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Tekken 8, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth among franchise entries; Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater among remakes; and games such as Pacific Drive and The Plucky Squire. The trailer description presents them together as games to anticipate for 2024, rather than grouping them by genre, release date, or exclusivity.

How does it relate to PlayStation’s January State of Play?
The January 4 GameSpot trailer is not a State of Play. PlayStation published a separate recap on January 31, 2024, titled Everything revealed in the January 2024 State of Play. That recap covers trailers and announcements from that event, including Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, and Dragon’s Dogma 2. It provides contemporary context for several games, but it is a different video and is not a complete source for the January 4 trailer’s list. Read PlayStation’s State of Play recap.
Is this still an upcoming-games list?
No. “Upcoming Games In 2024” is the trailer’s historical framing, published at the start of that year. It should not be read as a 2026 forecast or as confirmation of every game’s eventual release date, current platform availability, or physical PS5 edition. The listing establishes which titles its description names; it does not supply a current buying guide or verify those details for every game.
