Which product makes sense for you?
If you are new to Magic
The Beginner Box is the most directly instructional option. Its guided Aang-versus-Zuko game and included learning materials are designed to introduce the rules, while its ten half-decks provide additional themed combinations to play with. It is more than a box of booster packs.

- BEST BOOSTERS FOR PLAYING WITH FRIENDS—Play Boosters are the best way to discover what Magic has to offer; they're perfect for building decks, playing Limited games with friends, and are tons of fun to open
If you want to draft or play Sealed
Play Boosters are the relevant booster product. They can contain cards from both TLA and TLE, and Wizards says cards opened from Play Boosters can be used in Avatar Draft and Sealed.
If you want a scene display
Scene Boxes assemble cards into series moments. The collecting guide identifies three groupings tied to climaxes from Books 1, 2, and 3: one four-card scene, one six-card scene, and one nine-card scene. Non-foil and traditional-foil versions of the scene cards are available in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters.

Release dates and launch prices

What TLA and TLE mean for card legality
The main set code is TLA. Wizards says TLA cards are legal in all formats. TLE is a separate code for eternal-legal cards: the guide says TLE cards are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. If a card with the same name was previously printed, that earlier version remains legal wherever that card is already permitted.
Wizards also states that TLA and TLE cards can appear in Play Boosters and can be used in Avatar Draft and Sealed when opened from those boosters. Those product-specific statements do not replace the rules for other formats. For tournament deckbuilding, check the current format rules and card legality before registering. See the collecting guide and release notes.
