That structure explains why a feature can be “new” without being a Digital Deluxe bonus. Evasion is a remaster feature available in the game itself. The seven-officer stories and four challenge-mode types are part of the included expansion. The 42 retro costumes and 42 fusion weapons, by contrast, are listed only with Digital Deluxe.
What comes from the original Dynasty Warriors 3
The base game supplies the original Dynasty Warriors 3 content and its foundational officer-development gameplay. Nintendo’s product description lists a playable cast of more than 40 officers, True Musou Attacks, and simultaneous two-player play among the returning features. That “more than 40” figure describes the officer cast in the official product copy; it is not a count of the expansion’s extra stories or of the Deluxe weapons.
The remaster also brings back the original game’s two-player co-op and True Musou Attacks, according to KOEI TECMO. The available product descriptions establish that these features return, but do not specify every mode, mission, or technical detail of how co-op works.

Because Xtreme Legends is included rather than sold as a separate add-on in this package, buyers do not need to treat its stories, bodyguard options, or challenge modes as optional purchases. They are part of the Complete Edition’s main content. The sources do not state whether every expansion menu is presented exactly as it was in the original release, so the safe distinction is content inclusion, not an undocumented menu or interface promise.

What the remaster changes
This is not only a repackaging of the two older releases. KOEI TECMO says the remaster has refined graphics and controls, as well as new features and scenarios. Its named new combat action is Evasion: if the player evades at the right moment, the move triggers a Just Evasion counterattack. The publisher announcement identifies these changes but does not provide a full technical specification, resolution target, frame rate, or platform-by-platform performance comparison.
Evasion therefore has two parts worth separating. The basic action gives the player a modern defensive option, while the timing-based Just Evasion creates a counterattack when the maneuver is performed perfectly. The official description does not state damage values, timing windows, input commands, or whether the counter differs by officer, so those specifics should be checked in the game rather than assumed from the announcement.
The roster also includes Ziluan, described by KOEI TECMO as the protagonist of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, alongside more than 40 officers returning from the original roster. The publisher’s description is the basis for that roster detail; it should not be confused with the seven officers whose stories are associated with the expansion.
“New scenarios” is likewise a publisher-level description, not a complete mission list. It confirms additional scenario content in the remaster, but the cited announcement does not give a total number, names, or a breakdown of which scenarios belong to the base game, Xtreme Legends, or the remaster’s new material.
Standard Complete Edition and Digital Deluxe compared

The concept-art collection is viewed in the game’s database. Nintendo says it cannot be downloaded or viewed outside the game, and producer comments included with it are in Japanese only. These are conditions attached to that Digital Deluxe bonus, not to the standard game’s story content.
The item list also has practical distinctions. The Wind Scroll, Tiger Amulet, and Six Secret Teachings are individual bonus items, while the 42 weapons are described as usable for fusion. Nintendo does not state that these weapons unlock separate campaigns or officers. Similarly, “42 retro costumes” describes the quantity of costume bonuses, not a promise that every officer receives one or that the costumes alter combat statistics.
Should you choose the Digital Deluxe Edition?
Choose based on whether you want the additional listed bonuses, rather than assuming Deluxe contains a different version of the base game. Official platform descriptions say the original Dynasty Warriors 3 was the first entry in the series to sell more than one million copies. They do not attach a year to that milestone, so it should not be read as a current sales total or assigned a date on the basis of those product pages. Nintendo’s and PlayStation’s descriptions provide the milestone context; it does not change what is bundled in Complete Edition.
