Farming Simulator 25 launched on November 12, 2024. Its headline reveals included rice cultivation, three distinct farming environments, water buffalo, a larger equipment catalog, and announced changes to fields, weather, visuals, and physics. This is a retrospective guide to what GIANTS Software presented for launch—not a claim that every feature is new today.
What’s new in Farming Simulator 25?
GIANTS Software’s launch-era announcements focused on a wider range of places and farm work, plus technical changes intended to make fields and weather feel more dynamic. The clearest standouts were rice farming, new crops and livestock, and three environments with different settings. The game is available for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, according to GIANTS Software’s announcement archive and Xbox Wire’s 2024 coverage.

Three environments, three different settings
The official manual documents three environments. Their geography and scenery offer different contexts for building a farm, but the available descriptions do not establish that any one is objectively the best choice.

These names and descriptions follow the official Farming Simulator 25 manual. The East Asian environment is the most immediately associated with the game’s rice-farming reveal; the different settings otherwise give players distinct scenery and regional context.

Rice, spinach, and water management
Rice was one of FS25’s most distinctive launch-era additions. GIANTS highlighted two types of rice, bringing a form of cultivation that involves managing water in paddies alongside the usual work of planting and harvesting. The announcement also singled out spinach as a new crop. These additions broaden the crop roster and give players more variety in the kinds of fields they can run; the official material does not warrant claims about more detailed agronomic simulation.
Water buffalo join the livestock
Water buffalo were another headline addition in GIANTS Software’s launch-era materials. They expand the livestock roster and fit the game’s focus on a wider range of regional farming activities.
More than 400 machines from 150 brands
GIANTS Software’s current official game information lists more than 400 authentic machines from 150 agricultural brands. That is the publisher’s catalog figure, not a count of machines a typical player will use in a single farm or save. The announcement archive also presents the expanded machinery selection as part of the game’s broader launch offering.

More ways to build a farm business
Production chains and construction missions add activities beyond fieldwork. Production chains let players extend the business side of farming by processing goods, while construction missions offer additional objectives tied to developing the surrounding area. They provide more ways to engage with the farm economy than simply growing and selling crops.
Ground, weather, visuals, and physics
GIANTS announced ground deformation, dynamic weather, improved visuals and physics, and GIANTS Engine 10 as technical features for FS25. Ground deformation and changing weather point to a more responsive-feeling farm environment, while the engine and visual changes describe the technology and presentation the publisher highlighted. These are announced features, not independent performance results; no comparative benchmark is established here.

The official manual describes selectable modes including New Farmer and Farm Manager. They differ in difficulty and initial financial situation, so the choice is about how much support and starting capital a player wants rather than which mode is universally preferable.
