Battlestate Games’ preliminary 2026 roadmap points to performance and loading work, new story events, seasonal progression, PvE Prestige, Arena updates and a Scav Life DLC. The listed quarters are targets, not confirmed release dates, and much of the item-by-item detail comes from secondary reporting.
How firm is the Escape from Tarkov 2026 roadmap?
Battlestate’s official Telegram channel labels its first-half 2026 roadmap preliminary; its Tarkov Arena Q1 plans carry the same caveat. That means the roadmap describes intended work, not a guarantee that every feature will arrive in its listed quarter. The official channel does not establish delivery status for every item below, so treat the quarter-by-quarter details as reported plans rather than a live release tracker. Most of the specific feature list comes from Out of Games’ roundup of the roadmap. Where a developer has discussed an item directly, that is noted separately. Out of Games’ 2026 roadmap roundup
What is planned for Q1 2026?
Performance, reconnects and loading
Out of Games reports that the Q1 plan includes bug fixes and quality-of-life changes, smaller updates, Steam rich presence, work on reconnects and load times, general performance improvements, updated outdoor models and foliage, and more accurate optical-lens visuals. These are roadmap items, not confirmation that the work has shipped.

The roundup says developers described waits of about five minutes as a pain point and targeted reconnect times of 10–15 seconds. The five-minute figure is a reported example of a problem, not an independently measured average; 10–15 seconds is a target, not a verified result or service guarantee.
Transparent magazines and the Terminal Icebreaker event
The Q1 feature list also includes transparent magazines and an event centered on an Icebreaker ship in Terminal. Out of Games describes the event as featuring a questline and a story presented in a single-player style. These specifics are reported by the outlet, rather than a guarantee that every element or its timing is final.
What is planned for Q2 2026?
Seasonal characters
Out of Games reports a seasonal system with fresh character progression, gameplay modifiers and rewards that can transfer to a player’s main character. The reported plan is for two seasons a year, with selectable perks and debuffs; the outlet also describes the seasons as free and PvP-only. Famine, radiation and extreme weather are examples of possible modifiers, not confirmed season content.

PvE Prestige
In an interview with Inven Global, Battlestate head Nikita Buyanov said PvE Prestige was planned within 2026 and would award items distinct from PvP Prestige rewards. He stated: “PvE Prestige will definitely be released within this year.” That is an intention expressed in the interview, not evidence that the feature has launched. Inven says its article was originally written in Korean, translated with AI assistance and edited by a native English-speaking editor. Inven Global’s ChinaJoy interview with Nikita Buyanov
More story quests and a Battle Pass
Buyanov also said, “We plan to expand the narrative by introducing more story-driven quests.” He described a Battle Pass that would let players unlock items by playing, but the interview did not specify which items. These are plans as stated in the interview; it does not establish a release date or a final list of rewards.
What is planned for Q3 2026?
Storylines, events and Halloween content
Out of Games reports two storylines, additional event content and a large Halloween zombie event among the Q3 plans. It also lists Arena content, quests involving weapon and gear customization, magazine-loading and hideout animations, and other immersion features. Its examples include shootable door locks, a physical keypad interaction and car alarms triggered when vehicles are struck.

A second season
Out of Games places a second seasonal run in Q4, consistent with its report of two seasons per year. The roadmap coverage does not provide a confirmed start date or final set of modifiers and rewards.
Scav Life DLC
The roundup places Scav Life at the end of 2026. Its reported feature list includes a Scav profile, a dedicated hideout zone, a secure container, quests involving Scav bosses, a social space and the possibility of playing as a Scav boss while directing guards. These are reported scope details, not proof that the DLC has launched or that each feature remains in the plan.

What the roadmap does—and does not—say about Tarkov’s future
The plans span several kinds of development: technical work on loading and performance, progression systems for PvP and PvE, story-driven content, Arena features and a separate Scav-focused DLC. A quarter attached to an item signals reported timing, not a confirmed release date; feature examples and descriptions may also change as development continues.
In an April 22, 2026 interview, GamesBeat reported that Battlestate remained focused on Escape from Tarkov while a separate team at Rant Gaming Studios worked on Fragmentary Order. That separate project is not itself evidence that Tarkov development has stopped or that the roadmap has changed. GamesBeat’s interview with Nikita Buyanov
