NFL teams submit game-day inactive lists to the league 90 minutes before that game’s scheduled kickoff. That is the submission deadline—not a guarantee that the list will appear publicly at that exact moment. Check NFL.com’s inactive coverage and the official sites or channels of both teams in the matchup.
When are NFL inactives due?
The league’s game-day process centers on the 90 minutes before kickoff. NFL Football Operations says club public-relations representatives deliver the Game Day Administration Report, which includes the club’s inactive list, to the referee at the 90-minute officiating meeting. The Pittsburgh Steelers state that teams must submit their game-day inactives to the NFL 90 minutes before kickoff. They also clarify that there are no rules about when those inactives must be released to the media or public. So, “due 90 minutes before kickoff” is the reliable timing; “always posted exactly 90 minutes before kickoff” is not.
Where can you check the inactive list?
NFL.com
NFL.com publishes inactive-report coverage, including weekly trackers. For example, its 2026 Week 1 tracker listed players ruled out for Sunday’s games. Look for the current week’s NFL inactive-report coverage. NFL.com: NFL Week 1 inactives

Check the official news pages, game trackers, or social channels for both teams playing. Team coverage can report each side’s list; the New York Giants’ Week 2 tracker, dated September 21, 2026, reported the Giants’ and Rams’ inactive lists. New York Giants: Week 2 Tracker
How to check at the right time
- Find the scheduled kickoff time for the specific game you want to follow.
- Work backward 90 minutes and start checking NFL.com and the official sources for both teams around then.
- If the list is not posted yet, refresh those sources. Public-release timing is not fixed, and different games on the same day have different kickoff times.
A team may publish at the 90-minute point: in a 2026 example, Tampa Bay reported that it and Cincinnati submitted their lists at 11:30 a.m. ET, 90 minutes before kickoff. That example does not establish a universal public-posting time. Buccaneers: Bucs vs. Bengals Inactive Report

Use NFL.com and the two teams’ official sources as complementary checks. Confirm that a report covers both clubs in your matchup and that it is for the game you’re following. The available examples do not establish that one source is always faster than the others.
