It did not launch in March: Netflix announced that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition would arrive on mobile on December 14, 2023. Rockstar’s earlier announcement had projected an iOS and Android release in the first half of 2022, but it did not name March as the launch date.
What was the GTA Trilogy mobile release date?
Netflix announced the mobile release date on November 29, 2023: December 14, 2023. Its announcement said members could access the trilogy through the App Store, Google Play, and the Netflix mobile app. Netflix’s November 29, 2023 announcement gives the date and access channels.

Why did some reports say March?
Rockstar’s 2021 announcement described the planned mobile release as the first half of 2022, not a specific March date. The later Netflix announcement set December 14, 2023 as the launch date, superseding that earlier projected window. Rockstar’s original announcement records the 2021 schedule and console plans.

The mobile compilation contains three games: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Rockstar describes the Definitive Edition as featuring updated lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances, and controls and targeting inspired by Grand Theft Auto V. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the compilation, not independent performance findings. See the Rockstar Games Store product listing.

- Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City. With the revolutionary freedom to go anywhere and jack anyone, Grand Theft Auto III puts the center of the criminal underworld at your fingertips, if you have enough guts to take it.
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s. From the decade of big hair and pastel suits comes the story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile.
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl ‘CJ’ Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.
How was the mobile version accessed?
At launch, Netflix named three routes for members: the Netflix mobile app, Apple’s App Store, and Google Play. That announcement establishes the access options it announced in November 2023; it does not confirm current availability in every country, current subscription pricing, or compatibility with a particular phone or tablet. Check your local listing and device details before installing.
Rockstar’s support site also publishes Android and iOS update notes for Vice City – The Definitive Edition, confirming that mobile editions have received post-launch update documentation. Update notes alone do not establish whether the game is currently listed in a given region’s storefront. See Rockstar’s mobile update notes.

Is the console edition the same purchase?
No. Netflix’s announcement concerns mobile access for members, while Rockstar separately announced physical console editions for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. A physical console copy is a different format and platform from the mobile release; the announcement does not establish present-day retailer stock.
