Was Walmart Canada earlier than other retailers?
For online ordering, yes: MobileSyrup reported GameStop Canada’s preorder start as noon ET on April 24, 12 hours after Walmart’s midnight opening. GameStop stores were to accept pre-orders after opening, also later than Walmart’s online start. This establishes the timing comparison with GameStop, not a complete ranking of every Canadian retailer.

Could customers pre-order in a Walmart store?
No. Walmart’s notice said pre-orders were online only. It also stated: “Due to demand, there will be a limit of 1 console per household.”
Are Switch 2 pre-orders still open?

What is the Canadian price now?
Nintendo announced a Canadian system MSRP change from $629.99 to $679.99, effective September 1, 2026, on its official Canadian site. Walmart Canada’s Switch 2 product category displayed $679.96 for the system when accessed on October 8, 2026. Those are separate source-reported figures, not a single agreed price; retailer listings and availability can change.
