Season 2’s announced start time
Activision announced that Black Ops 6 Season 2 would go live across platforms on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 9 a.m. PT. That was the overall season launch time, not confirmation that every Ranked playlist would be playable at that exact minute. Activision’s January 22 announcement covered both Multiplayer Ranked and Warzone Battle Royale Ranked.

When each Ranked mode was expected

These are two separate queues. Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Ranked follows competitive multiplayer rules, while Warzone Ranked is Battle Royale. The announcement described Multiplayer Ranked as using Call of Duty League settings, maps, modes, and weapon restrictions, with Skill Rating earned through Ranked match wins.
Was Ranked actually playable at 9 a.m. PT?
Not necessarily. Windows Central’s January 28 launch-day updates said Season 2 was live while players were reporting that Ranked Play had not returned as expected. Its coverage supports a launch-day availability delay, but does not establish the exact minute either playlist eventually became accessible. Windows Central’s launch-day report is therefore useful context, not a revised official launch time.

Other Ranked changes announced for Season 2
Activision’s January 2025 community update also outlined planned Multiplayer Ranked changes. These details describe Season 2 plans and should not be read as confirmation of current feature status. The official community update said:
- Console players would be able to disable crossplay in Ranked during Season 2, subject to testing and further details.
- Vote to Forfeit was planned for the Season 2 launch. A forfeit would count as a standard loss, without SR penalties or suspensions.
- Match rejoin was planned for later in the season.
The same update listed Season 2 rewards including a Jackal PDW blueprint for 10 wins, a large decal for 100 wins, and camos for Gold rank and above. These were Season 2 rewards, not a guide to rewards in a later season.
