No one has published a worldwide date for when Nintendo Switch 2 stock will catch up with demand. Nintendo said in August 2025 that demand exceeded supply in many countries and that it would strengthen production and supply systems, but it has never given a target date for closing that gap. Availability has improved in some markets since launch, and the most recent regional reporting describes the console as broadly in stock in Australia. Those are market-specific snapshots, not evidence that shortages have ended everywhere.
What Nintendo has said about supply
Nintendo’s official financial-results material from August 2025 contains the company’s most direct statement on the shortage: “Currently, demand for Nintendo Switch 2 is exceeding supply in many countries, and we regret the inconvenience this is causing our consumers.” The same passage continues: “We will continue to strengthen our production and supply systems to deliver as much Nintendo Switch 2 hardware as possible.” The statement names no country-by-country timeline and no date for supply to match demand.

Two sales figures from Nintendo are often quoted alongside the shortage, and they measure different things:
- Over 3.5 million units sold worldwide in the first four days after the June 5, 2025 release, according to Nintendo’s June 11, 2025 announcement. Nintendo describes this as the highest global sales level for any Nintendo hardware in its first four days. It is a sales count, not a measure of remaining stock or unmet demand.
- Over 6 million units of global sell-through in the first seven weeks, as reported in the August 2025 material. Nintendo defines sell-through as its internal estimate of units sold to individual consumers. It is not a shipment figure and says nothing about inventory left in retail channels.

Reading the current picture by market
United States and United Kingdom
Tom’s Guide’s August 2025 reporting described major retailers as having more reliable stock after months of shortages. That was roughly a year ago. Treat it as evidence that the shortage was easing at that point, not as a description of stock today.
Australia
The most recent region-specific reporting in the available sources is GamesRadar+’s 2026 Australia buying guide. It said the console did not seem broadly scarce there, while warning that Amazon availability could fluctuate and that some retailers set purchase limits. That is one region’s view at one point in time.

Japan
Nintendo’s October 2026 announcement of a Japan-only Switch 2 bundle for November 12, 2026 shows a product offer planned for that market. It does not indicate how much stock exists elsewhere or when shortages would end.
How to check availability before you buy
- Open the store page for each major retailer that ships to your country, and note the country or region shown at the top of the page or in the delivery settings.
- Search for the standalone console and, separately, for each bundle you are considering. Standalone and bundle stock often differ.
- Add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout without paying. Confirm the seller, the total price including tax and shipping, and the delivery estimate for your address.
- Check for any purchase limit notice shown during checkout.
- Record the date and retailer of your check. A listing that shows “in stock” on one day says little about the following week.
Interpreting restock and back-order information
Nintendo Support’s general back-order guidance states that most items are back in stock and available for processing within three to four days, and advises allowing about one week of processing for back-ordered items. This applies to orders placed through Nintendo’s own store in general. It is not a Switch 2-specific restock forecast, and it should not be read as a promise of when the console will return to any particular retailer.

When you see a restock story, check its date first. Liveblogs and buying guides from 2025 describe the market as it was then. A single retailer’s temporary restock, or a listing that appears and sells out within hours, is also not evidence that supply has caught up with demand in your market.
Because no source in the available record gives a live, country-by-country inventory measure, the most accurate statement is this: availability has improved in some markets since the launch shortages, but Nintendo has not published a date when supply will fully match demand worldwide.
