Write Sorcery Points in a labeled resource field on your Sorcerer’s character sheet, recording both the amount you have now and your maximum—for example, “Sorcery Points: 3 / 6.” If there is no dedicated box, use the class-features or notes area. The rules do not require one universal location, so check the layout of your specific paper or digital sheet.
What to write on the sheet
Sorcery Points are a Sorcerer resource granted by Font of Magic; they are not spell slots. Keep a current count and a maximum together, such as “Sorcery Points: current / maximum.” Change the current count when you spend points, and update it after the recovery event provided by the rules and features your table uses.
Use a dedicated resource box if your sheet has one. Otherwise, label an open field in class features or notes so it is clear what the number tracks. The game rules establish the resource and its level-based maximum, but do not prescribe a universal character-sheet location.
Where to put them on paper and digital sheets
Paper sheets
Look first for a resource, class feature, or other tracking field. If none is labeled for Sorcery Points, write the current and maximum values in the class-features or notes area and label them clearly. You do not need to add a special box unless that helps you keep track.

Digital sheets
Use the resource or class-feature area available on your character sheet. D&D Beyond describes its character-sheet sections and offers PDF export; the exact placement depends on the sheet layout. Check the character itself and, if you use a PDF at the table, confirm how the exported sheet displays the value. D&D Beyond support
Set the maximum using your table’s rules
Confirm whether your game uses the 2014-era or 2024 rules before entering the maximum or relying on feature text. The two versions present Sorcerer progression separately; do not combine one version’s table with the other’s rules. Use the Sorcerer table for the version your table is playing.

- 2014-era SRD: Font of Magic begins at Sorcerer level 2. The Sorcerer table gives the Sorcery Points maximum by level. The SRD says, “You regain all spent sorcery points when you finish a long rest.” Flexible Casting also allows point-to-slot or slot-to-point conversion subject to that feature’s limits. 2014-era SRD, Sorcerer

Keep the number current during play
- At the start of play, record the current points and your maximum in the same labeled field.
- When you spend points, subtract them from the current amount; leave the maximum unchanged unless your Sorcerer level or applicable rules change it.
- When a recovery event or feature restores points, update the current amount according to that rule. For the 2014-era SRD, all spent points return after a long rest.
An example sheet can show one way to track the resource, but it does not establish a required location for every sheet. Follow the fields available on your own sheet and make the label unambiguous. D&D Beyond character sheets
