The crawlspace in Date Everything! is reached through a hidden trap door under a small rug on the closet floor in the first-floor office. You must take off your Dateviators before you can move the rug, and you use the ladder behind the hatch to go down and come back up.
Step-by-step route to the crawlspace
Walkthroughs from the official Date Everything! Wiki and Power Up Gaming agree on this sequence. The Power Up Gaming guide was published in June 2025, and the wiki guide is the more detailed of the two, so the steps below follow it where the two differ.

- Go to the office on the first floor and open the closet door.
- Remove your Dateviators before interacting with the objects on the closet floor.
- Interact with the small rug on the closet floor. It moves aside to reveal a trap door.
- Interact with the trap door to open it.
- Interact with the ladder to climb down into the crawlspace. Use the ladder again to climb back out.

Finding the key in the crawlspace
Once you are down the ladder, equip your Dateviators and scan the key. The guide refers to Keith as the key, so Keith is the target to scan for. The wiki places the key on the floor to the right when you face away from the ladder. A different walkthrough describes it in a corner near a pole. If the wiki’s orientation does not match what you see, sweep the whole floor with the Dateviators rather than relying on one landmark.

What the crawlspace unlocks
According to the official wiki attic guide, Keith helps unlock the locked attic door, and the attic sequence continues upstairs after you have found him. The same guide notes a shorter route through the game’s Content Aware feature. The crawlspace itself is only the entry point, so the attic progression is a separate question from the one this page answers.
The official wiki’s crawlspace page lists three dateable characters in the crawlspace: Bodhi Windbreaker, Keith, and Vaughn Trapp.

If the trap door does not open
Some players report that the trap door does not change state. In one Steam community thread, a commenter said restarting the game fixed the problem on their end. That is a single anecdote, not a confirmed fix, so treat it as a last resort.
- Confirm that your Dateviators are removed before you interact with the rug.
- Interact with the rug first, then the trap door, in that order.
- If the hatch still does not respond, restart the game and try again.
- If the problem persists, check the official Date Everything! support page on Steam Support for current guidance.
Version and platform notes
The Steam listing identifies Date Everything! as a single-player simulation developed by Sassy Chap Games and published by Team17. The walkthroughs above describe the Steam version. None of the sources checked confirm that console versions use the same layout, so verify the room if you are playing on another platform.
