You can no longer preorder the PS5 Pro ahead of its November launch: the console launched on November 7, 2024. For US buyers, the latest reported retailer check found no new stock at major retailers on October 7, 2026. Stock can change quickly, so treat retailer listings as live offers to verify—not guaranteed availability.
PS5 Pro availability in the US
As of an October 7, 2026 check, Tom’s Guide reported that Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, GameStop, and PlayStation Direct were sold out of new PS5 Pro stock. The outlet also reported that a PlayStation Direct restock on October 6 sold out quickly. These are time-stamped findings, not a promise about what a store has now. PlayStation’s US PS5 buying page routes shoppers to retailers, but a retailer link alone does not confirm inventory; check the product page and checkout before placing an order.

Current price versus launch price
Tom’s Guide reported a current US MSRP of $899 in its October 2026 coverage. That is dated secondary reporting; check Sony’s current pricing and the retailer’s checkout total before buying. Sony’s September 2024 launch announcement listed original MSRPs of $699.99 in the US, £699.99 in the UK, €799.99 in Europe, and ¥119,980 in Japan, including tax. Those are historical launch prices, not current quotes. Sony’s announcement is available on the PlayStation.Blog.

How to assess a PS5 Pro listing
When stock is scarce, compare the offer—not just the headline price. A marketplace result may be sold by a third party, and used, refurbished, or open-box stock is not the same as a new console sold directly by a retailer.
- Condition: Confirm whether the console is new, used, refurbished, or open-box, and read the condition notes.
- Seller: Check whether the retailer sells it directly or hosts a marketplace seller.
- Total price: Compare the checkout price with the current official MSRP; include any shipping or other charges shown at checkout.
- Returns and warranty: Read the terms on the specific listing. They can differ by seller and condition.
- Delivery or pickup: Verify the promised timing and location before paying.
- Disc needs: The PS5 Pro has no built-in disc drive. If you use physical PS5 games or Blu-ray discs, account for the separately sold PS5 Disc Drive.
At its October 7 check, Tom’s Guide reported used or refurbished listings including a $1,329 GameStop listing and marketplace prices as high as $1,700. Those are reported resale listings—not Sony MSRP or evidence of new retailer stock. Confirm the seller, condition, and live price on any listing before purchase.
What comes with the PS5 Pro—and what does not
Sony says the PS5 Pro includes a 2TB SSD, one DualSense wireless controller, and Astro’s Playroom pre-installed. It is disc-less; Sony said the PS5 Disc Drive could be purchased separately. Buyers with physical game collections or Blu-ray needs should check current drive compatibility and availability before ordering.

What the PS5 Pro upgrade means for games
Sony described the Pro’s GPU as having 67% more compute units than the then-current PS5, its memory as 28% faster, and rendering as up to 45% faster. Sony also claimed double—and at times triple—ray-tracing speeds and said more than 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games were subject to PS5 Pro Game Boost. These are manufacturer claims from Sony’s 2024 announcement, not independent test results.
Those figures do not mean every game gets the same improvement. Sony says Pro features apply to select games enhanced for the console and vary by title; look for the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label and check the specific game’s listed features.
Japan has a separate purchase process
A Japan-specific route reported by Tom’s Hardware is not a global restock option. Its September 29, 2026 report said Sony Store Japan opened a purchase-application lottery on October 7. Applicants needed a Sony account registered in Japan and at least 60 hours of PS4 or PS5 game time during September 27, 2024–September 27, 2026. The report said selected applicants could buy at MSRP from October 26 to November 2, 2026 if applications exceeded available stock. Check Sony Store Japan’s official rules before applying; the eligibility and dates do not apply to US buyers.
