Nintendo’s US accessory catalog lists the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, a Resident Evil Requiem Edition, and related Switch 2 accessories. The catalog confirms the products, not live stock or current prices at retailers, so check retailer listings before buying.
Where to find the Switch 2 Pro Controller
Start with Nintendo’s US Switch 2 accessories catalog for the standard Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and the Resident Evil Requiem Edition. These listings confirm the models Nintendo offers, but do not establish whether either is currently in stock or what it costs at a particular retailer. Check retailers serving your region for current availability and price.
Should you buy the new Pro Controller?
The Switch 2 Pro Controller is designed only for use with Nintendo Switch 2. Its listed features include HD rumble 2, motion controls, built-in amiibo functionality, a Capture Button, a C Button for GameChat, remappable GL/GR buttons, and a 3.5 mm four-pole CTIA-standard audio jack. GameChat requires an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and Nintendo says the service is not available in every country. See Nintendo’s product listing for details.
If you already own the original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, you may not need to replace it just to play on Switch 2: Nintendo says the older controller can pair wirelessly with the new system. The two are separate products, though, and Nintendo lists the newer model’s Switch 2-specific controls and features separately. Its compatibility guidance does not establish a full feature-by-feature comparison or a battery-life or comfort advantage. See Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 compatibility information.

How to charge the Switch 2 Pro Controller
The controller comes with a USB cable. Nintendo says to connect it to an available USB port on the Switch 2 dock or directly to the Switch 2 AC adapter. When charging from the dock, the console does not need to be docked. Nintendo’s charging instructions explain the supported connections.
Other Switch 2 accessories to consider
| Accessory | What it does | Important compatibility or package detail |
|---|---|---|
| Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip | Holds Joy-Con 2 in a controller-style grip and charges them with the included USB-C cable. | Sold separately; Joy-Con 2 controllers are not included. It cannot be used with original Switch Joy-Con. |
| Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector | Provides carrying protection and includes a screen protector. | Check Nintendo’s product listing for package details. |
| Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case | Stores TV-mode equipment and up to six game cards. | Does not include the system, dock, Joy-Con 2, or straps. |
Nintendo’s catalog also lists a Joy-Con 2 wheel set. For the precise package contents and regional listing details of these accessories, consult Nintendo’s accessory catalog. Do not assume an accessory includes controllers or system hardware unless its listing says so.

Which controller or accessory fits your setup?
- Choose the Switch 2 Pro Controller if you want a dedicated full-size controller with its listed Switch 2 features.
- Keep using your original Switch Pro Controller if you own one and wireless pairing meets your needs; Nintendo confirms it works with Switch 2.
- Consider the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip if you want a grip-style setup for Joy-Con 2 and a way to charge them.
- Look at a carrying case if your priority is transporting or protecting the system rather than buying another controller.
Compatibility varies by accessory: Nintendo says the original Switch Pro Controller can pair wirelessly with Switch 2, but the original Switch dock is incompatible with Switch 2, and older Joy-Con grips, charging grips, straps, and wheels cannot be used with Joy-Con 2. Check Nintendo’s compatibility table for the specific item before reusing older hardware.
