The five Relics are available on your first visit; the Secret Cave chest and several challenge routes require later abilities, so use the map to return when you have them.
Oboro Relics: all five locations
All five Oboro Relics can be collected on your first pass through Lantern Festival; the stage guide lists no additional Ningi ability requirements for them. Directions below follow landmarks in the stage. [Into Indie Games’ Lantern Festival collectibles guide, August 28, 2025]
- After the boat, before the Village: Jump onto the roof and look behind a tree for the chest.
- Near Tower Shrine: Climb to the platform where the axe-throwing enemy stood. Wall-run up the right side to a hidden platform and open the chest.
- Above and left of Relic 2: Continue up and left across the dash points and blue balloon platforms. Defeat the ambush group; the chest appears after the fight.
- Tower region zipline: Before descending the zipline, jump to the platform above and head left to the chest.
- Near Fireworks Shrine: Reach the next rooftop and slide down its right edge. Drop to the lower platform, where a shield brute guards the chest.
Secret Chests: outfits and health
The stage has two Secret Chests. The first is in Rooftops; the second is inside Secret Cave and is gated by abilities.
Secret Chest 1: Fire Raider Outfit
In Rooftops, cross the floating balloons to the right. Slide down the building’s right edge without using air dash, then go left from the roof to the platform with the chest.

- Rooftops Shrine: Drop to the lower floating balloon platform. The encounter marker is on its left side.
- Rooftops, after the Fire Raider Outfit: Move to the building’s right side and slide down. Use Ninja Claws through the next section; the encounter marker is above.
- Secret Cave: Sword Dive through the Yokai Barrier beside Island Shrine, then complete the cave parkour to reach the encounter marker. Ninja Claws are listed as required for this route.
Ankou Rift: Ninja Hook and Sword Dive route
The Ankou Rift is in the purple map area after Buildings Shrine. In the room with the pink balloon platform moving downward, head right instead of descending. Wall-run upward to reveal grapple points, then use Ninja Hook to reach the Grim Reaper and the Rift. The walkthrough contents list both Ninja Hook and Sword Dive as requirements for the Rift route. You do not need to finish every route during the first visit. The stage guides say you can revisit locations from the world map after unlocking the required Ningi abilities. In particular, Sword Dive opens Secret Cave, while Ninja Claws are needed for its chest and Elite Squad route; the Rift route also calls for Ninja Hook. - The iconic SHINOBI returns in an all-new 2D action platformer with a unique hand-drawn look created by the team behind the hit brawler Streets of Rage 4.
Use the stage map to plan a return: SEGA’s manual says it records locations you have reached, shows icons for places such as treasure chests and shops, and allows fast travel to checkpoints. If the map is only partly drawn or a new icon appears, travel to a nearby checkpoint and explore the uncharted area. [SEGA, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance online manual]
