Start with Baldur’s Gate 3’s in-game Mod Manager and its official mod.io catalog. Use the “Patch 8 Tested” filter to narrow the listings, then check each mod’s page for its current version, platform availability, dependencies, and creator notes. The label is a useful starting point, not a guarantee that a mod will work in every setup or load order.
Start with the in-game Mod Manager and mod.io
Larian’s supported route for finding and using mods is the game’s in-game Mod Manager, which draws on mod.io. Larian says the catalog offers downloads for PC and console and includes content moderation. Its supported pipeline is intended to improve compatibility, but Larian says it can officially support mods only through mod.io. See Larian’s Mod Issues FAQ and its modding announcement.

Filter for “Patch 8 Tested”
In the catalog, look for the “Patch 8 Tested” filter or label. It can help you find listings identified as tested for that game patch, but it does not establish that every tagged mod works on every platform, alongside every other mod, or in every individual installation. Check the live Patch 8 Tested catalog results and open the individual listing before installing.
On October 8, 2026, the Xbox-filtered catalog listing showed 3,418 entries with the label. That is a dated, changeable catalog count—not an independent compatibility test, and not a count of mods available on all platforms.

Check a mod’s page before installing
A catalog label is only one piece of evidence. On the mod’s own listing, review:
- Platform availability: Confirm the listing supports your platform. The fact that mod.io serves PC and console does not mean every individual mod is available on each one.
- Version and update notes: Look for the game version the creator says the mod supports, when it was last updated, and any Patch 8-specific notes.
- Dependencies: Install required mods and versions as directed. Missing or mismatched dependencies can prevent a mod from working.
- Known conflicts and load-order guidance: Follow the creator’s instructions, especially when combining mods that change the same content.
- Installation requirements: Confirm whether the mod is intended for the in-game manager or requires a separate PC tool or manual steps.
For example, the live catalog has surfaced listings such as Fade’s Equipment Distribution AIO, Extra Encounters and Minibosses, and Queen’s Garments with Patch 8 Tested labels. These are examples of catalog entries, not recommendations or independent confirmations of runtime behavior; check their current pages and availability before choosing them.
Use Nexus Mods for additional PC options
Nexus Mods’ Baldur’s Gate 3 section is another discovery route, particularly for third-party mods and creator-maintained compatibility information. For each listing, check the exact game version, installation requirements, dependencies, known conflicts, recent comments, and whether the instructions have been updated for Patch 8.
Community compatibility guidance can be useful, but it is not the same as Larian’s official support or a guarantee that a particular combination will work. Do not assume the in-game manager installs or manages every third-party mod; follow the mod author’s instructions for the specific mod.

Larian’s official Toolkit is for PC mod creation; its support guidance specifies that the Toolkit is PC-only and requires a 64-bit system. It is not a way for console players to create mods. For using mods, check the game’s supported manager and the availability shown on each listing.

For modded multiplayer, every player needs the exact same mods at the same versions, according to Larian’s support guidance. Before joining, compare the full mod list and version numbers with the host’s setup. Larian also recommends checking the Mod Manager’s Installed tab for updates.

If a Patch 8 mod appears installed but has no effect
A mod appearing in a manager—or showing an update—does not by itself prove it is working correctly in your particular setup. Larian warns that mods can break, especially when the game updates, and that third-party conflicts can affect stability. One Nexus forum user reported on April 24, 2025 that several updated mods appeared in the internal manager but had no effect after Patch 8; that individual report illustrates a possible setup issue, not a general failure of mods.
- Disable mods and check whether the issue remains. This helps determine whether a mod is involved.
- Check for updates and review the mod’s instructions. Confirm you have the required dependencies and that the mod supports your game version and platform.
- If troubleshooting third-party files on PC, follow Larian’s current instructions. Larian identifies the game’s Data directory’s Mods and Public folders, as well as the profile’s
modsettings.lsx, as possible locations involved in troubleshooting. Use the official Mod Issues FAQ for the steps that apply to your situation.
Do not delete saves or unrelated profile data as a first troubleshooting step. Larian’s FAQ also explains where local profile files may be located and what to do if the local profile was not present; consult those instructions before changing files.
