The black powder rifle, pistol, and blunderbuss in Fallout 76 each have a short list of fixed locations, mostly museum displays and a few named spots around Appalachia, plus random drops and vendor routes. The most useful starting points are the Philippi Battlefield Cemetery museum (rifle and pistol), the small wooden museum building in Helvetia (blunderbuss), and Van Lowe Taxidermy (blunderbuss). The Dragon, which is a black powder variant, has no fixed spawn location that can be confirmed from available sources.
These placements come from community-maintained Fallout Wiki pages for each weapon. They have not been confirmed in a live game session, so loot states, server conditions, and updates can change what you see.

Black powder rifle
The rifle has the most listed fixed placements of the three weapons, so it is the easiest to hunt systematically. Work through the locations in this order, since the Philippi museum is the clearest cluster:
- Philippi Battlefield Cemetery: check the museum display case.
- Prickett’s Fort: check the cabin near the parking lot.
- Garrahan Estate: open the locked display case on level 3.
- Harper’s Ferry: check the small building on the east side of the town.
If none of these holds a rifle, the remaining routes are Government aid drops and the plan route through Flintlock at Whitespring Resort, which requires the plans rather than the finished weapon.

Black powder pistol
The pistol’s clearest fixed cluster is also at Philippi Battlefield Cemetery, where the museum has four display cases. Two other fixed checks are listed:
- A spot northwest of Helvetia.
- The body of a Civil War reenactor in the mountains south of Poseidon power substation PX-03.
Because the Philippi museum is shared by the rifle and pistol, a single visit there lets you check both weapons’ display cases.

Black powder blunderbuss
The blunderbuss has two listed fixed areas. The first is the small wooden museum building in Helvetia, just east of the church near a gazebo. The second is a display case at Van Lowe Taxidermy. Helvetia is the stronger first stop because it has the listed placements in one area, and the museum building and church are close together.
The Dragon
The Dragon is identified as a black powder weapon variant. Available sources do not give a dependable fixed spawn location for it, so this guide does not send you to a specific map point. Treat any location you find online without a clear source with caution.

Rifle bayonet: scrap route, not a spawn
Bethesda’s Backwoods release notes state that the Black Powder Rifle’s Large bayonet can now be learned by scrapping the Black Powder Weapon. This is a crafting or plan change. It does not add a new spawn location for the rifle itself.

- Fixed displays and placements may not hold the weapon at every moment, so move on to the next listed location rather than waiting at one spot.
- Random drops from Government aid, Vertibot airdrops, and Scorched enemies are not guaranteed, so a single missing drop does not mean the weapon is unavailable.
- Vendor stock at Whitespring Resort and Whitespring Mall can change, so check the vendor again before assuming it is out of stock.
If a weapon is missing from every listed place, the most likely explanation is the loot state on your server rather than an error in the location list.
