Where clay deposits appear
Clay deposits are reported as large orange-brown mud clumps set into rocky terrain. The community-maintained Official Enshrouded Wiki describes them as mud-like deposits commonly found in Revelwood, and GamesRadar+ notes that they sit on rocky formations rather than open flat ground. Those two descriptions are consistent, so use them together when you scan an area: the colour and texture point you to the clay, and the rock face tells you where to look.
Clay is not reported in the first Springlands region. If you are still working through the opening area, progress into Revelwood before you spend time searching for it.
Search areas in Revelwood
Revelwood is the region to focus on. The landmarks below come from third-party guides with older publication dates, so treat them as navigation cues rather than fixed coordinates. Your in-game map and the terrain around you are the final check.

Around the Revelwood Ancient Spire
GamesRadar+ names the Ancient Spire area as a useful reference point for locating clay in Revelwood. Use the Spire as your anchor and work outward, checking rocky faces and formations within sight of it.
Slopes and rock formations near Diadwyn
Gamer Guides describes routes that start from Diadwyn. Head toward the rocky slopes nearby and scan the rock surfaces for orange-brown deposits. The same guide also describes additional deposits around the Ancient Obelisk and on nearby rocky columns, so if the slopes near Diadwyn come up empty, the obelisk and columns are the next places to check.
Farming area near Hidden Hunting Grounds
Gamer Guides also suggests a farming area near Hidden Hunting Grounds, southeast of the Spire. This is the option to use if you need a repeatable place to gather clay rather than a single deposit. The guide does not quantify how much clay this area yields, so expect to judge its usefulness by playing it.

Mine the clay deposit to collect Lump of Clay. The Official Enshrouded Wiki lists this as the item’s source, and it is used as a crafting ingredient.

What Lump of Clay is used for
Lump of Clay is a crafting material that appears among the ingredients for several items. The guide sources specifically mention two examples: the Kiln and the Half-Timbered Block. Use these as examples of what clay is for, not as a complete list of recipes, because the recipe set can change between game versions.
What is and is not established
Revelwood is the most consistently reported region for clay. The sources do not establish that clay appears only in Revelwood, and they do not rule out deposits in other areas of the current version. If you find clay somewhere outside the locations above, it is still Lump of Clay once mined.
The location details here are guide directions, not coordinates verified for a specific game build. Enshrouded has continued to receive updates, including the Forging the Path update announced on the official Enshrouded site in April 2026, and terrain or resource placement may have changed since the guides were written. If a named landmark or rock formation does not match what you see, trust the terrain in front of you and search nearby rock faces systematically.

- Confirm you have progressed into Revelwood, north of Springlands. Clay is not reported in the first Springlands region.
- Start from the Revelwood Ancient Spire and check rocky faces within sight of it.
- Move to the slopes near Diadwyn, then to the Ancient Obelisk and the nearby rocky columns.
- If you need a steady supply, use the farming area near Hidden Hunting Grounds, southeast of the Spire.
- Look for orange-brown mud clumps on rock. A flat patch of ground without rock formations is less likely to hold a deposit.
Enshrouded is a co-op survival action RPG, so if you are playing with others, any player who has already mined clay can tell you which spot in your region is quickest to reach.
