Metal Scraps come from three places in Enshrouded: drops from Scavengers, destroyed metal objects, and loose pickups lying in the world. For a new player, the most reliable starting point is the Scavengers in the ruined towns of the Springlands, with Rookmore named as a good early-game location.
The three ways to get Metal Scraps
The Official Enshrouded Wiki describes Metal Scraps as a crafting material found in the Springlands, not an ore you mine from a node. It lists three acquisition routes, and each one suits a different situation.
| Route | What you do | Combat needed? | Best fit | Yield data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scavenger drops | Defeat Scavengers, which commonly drop scraps | Yes | Players already clearing a settlement or looking for a repeatable early route | Drop ranges listed on enemy pages (see below); not guaranteed |
| Destroyed metal objects | Break metal objects in the world to receive scraps | No | Players who want to avoid fighting while exploring | Not stated by the wiki |
| World pickups | Collect physical Metal Scraps lying in the environment | No | Opportunistic collection while travelling | Not stated by the wiki |
Source for the three routes: The Official Enshrouded Wiki, “Metal Scraps”. The wiki is maintained by players rather than the developer, so treat its page as community-compiled reference rather than an official developer statement.
Where to go in the Springlands
The Springlands page on the same wiki identifies the Springlands as the game’s starting region and names ruined towns as where Scavengers frequently appear. Two examples are given.

#1 Best Overall
Rookmore
Rookmore is the settlement the wiki specifically calls a good early-game source of Scavengers. If you are a new player who needs scraps soon after starting, it is the first place to check. The wiki does not say how many scraps an hour Rookmore yields, so it should not be treated as the fastest route.
Wescott
Wescott is another ruined town where Scavengers appear. It is a reasonable alternative if you are already nearby or have cleared Rookmore, but the sources do not establish that it is as convenient for every player.
How much each enemy drops
Enemy loot is listed as a range, and a range describes what is possible, not what you will get on any given kill. The wiki’s game data lists the following ranges for Metal Scraps:
Rank #2
- Scavenger Scalper: 0–1 Metal Scraps, per the Scavenger Scalper page.
- Scavenger Scrapgun: 0–1 Metal Scraps, per the Scavenger Scrapgun page.
- Hollow Reaper: 0–3 Metal Scraps, per the Metal Scraps item page.
- Other Scavenger types: 0–1 Metal Scraps, per the same item page.
These figures are the game’s listed drop ranges. They do not come from a published measurement of drop rates, and the wiki does not say how often a kill produces a scrap.
Do enemies and objects respawn?
PC Gamer’s guide to Metal Scraps points to Rookmore as an early farming location and says enemies and objects respawn over time. This is secondary reporting, and it does not give a reset interval or a guaranteed cycle, so plan on revisiting a settlement rather than relying on a fixed timer. Read the PC Gamer guide for its own wording.
Checking the item itself
The wiki page for Metal Scraps shows a flavour line: “Remains of metal, which was present to witness humanity’s downfall. They might turn out to be useful.” The text is not attributed to a named speaker. A separate quest page on the wiki, Quest: Forge Weaponry or Armor, also states that scraps can be found in the world or dropped by Scavengers, which matches the routes above.
Rank #3
A simple early-game approach
- Head to Rookmore in the Springlands and defeat the Scavengers there.
- Break any metal objects you pass and pick up loose scraps while you explore.
- If Rookmore is cleared, try Wescott, or return later to check whether enemies have repopulated.
- Count your scraps across several visits rather than expecting a set amount from each kill.
What the sources do not establish
No source compares the three routes by speed or yield, and none gives a guaranteed number of Metal Scraps per run. If you need a precise rate, you will have to measure it yourself in your own game.
The Bottom Line
For a new player, start with the Scavengers at Rookmore in the Springlands, break metal objects and pick up loose scraps along the way, and expect the listed drop ranges to be possibilities rather than guarantees.
