There are ten Ancient Relics in the Vatican area of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Relics 1 to 6 sit along the underground story route beneath the Vatican, relic 7 is a reward for finishing Father Antonio’s inscription Fieldwork, relics 8 and 9 are behind the Fountain of Confession and Gold Path puzzles, and relic 10 is a late-story pickup. Work through them in the order below and you will not need to backtrack more than once or twice.
Relics 1 to 3: Apostolic Library and the Tower of Nicholas V crypt
The first three relics come from the opening underground sequences. Gameranx’s January 6, 2025 walkthrough and a Polygon guide reprinted by Arcader News describe the same route, with some differences in how the underground spaces are named.
Relic 1: Apostolic Library underground
After you meet Father Antonio, use the Giant’s Pendant to open the hidden passage on the first floor of the Apostolic Library. Follow the passage down to the alchemist’s lab and check the table in the southeast room. The Polygon guide calls this passage the Library’s Conservation Workshop secret passage, so look for the same hidden route if the lab name does not match what you see.
Relic 2: Tower of Nicholas V crypt
Continue the mission “The Stolen Cat Mummy” into the Tower of Nicholas V crypt. Collect the Giant’s Parchment, then watch the sequence in which a bulldozer falls in from the Excavation Site. Find the wooden beam, descend with the whip, and swing into the small opening in the wall. The relic is inside.

Relic 3: Flooded chambers beyond relic 2
Drop into the water below relic 2 and swim east into the connected chambers. Find the wall opening that is covered by water. The guides describe the next step as a torch-and-barrier sequence: light a torch, carry it through the adjoining passage, and use the flame on the wooden barrier that blocks the relic room. Once the barrier burns away, the relic is in the room beyond it.
Relics 4 to 6: Chandelier crossing, mural room and bust puzzles
These three relics sit deeper in the same underground route. Each one is opened by a bust placed on a pedestal, or by a route choice in a large room.
Relic 4: Gate after the chandelier crossing
Continue past the chandelier swing. A bust sits close by. Place it on its pedestal to raise the gate, and the relic is behind that gate.
Relic 5: Upper mural room
The large mural room has two wooden walkways you can reach with the whip. Climb to the second beam rather than leaving from the first one. The relic is in the upper room, next to a statue.

Relic 6: Bust puzzle beyond the crawl-through
Return to the first walkway and continue through the hallway and the crawl-through. In the room to the left, take a bust and place it on the pedestal beside the first door. Break the weak wall with a two-handed weapon, then retrieve the second bust and place it on the pedestal that the broken wall has opened up. The gate opens, and the relic is through it. Polygon’s guide describes the same bust and weak-wall puzzle.
Relic 7: Father Antonio’s reward
This relic comes from a quest reward rather than the underground route, so it is easy to miss if you search only the tunnels. PowerPyx’s Vatican collectibles guide (June 25, 2025) lists it as “Antonio’s Relic.”
- Complete the “The Secret of Giants” Fieldwork. It involves photographing all ten Strange Inscriptions around the Vatican.
- Return to Father Antonio’s office in the library.
- Pin the photos to his board.
- The relic appears on his desk.
Relics 8 to 10: Fountain of Confession, Gold Path and the late story
Relic 8: Trials of Augur blade-and-water section
Solve the Fountain of Confession puzzle first. That unlocks a new underground area. Continue through it to the swinging-blade platform section. After the first set of platforms, drop into the water below. The relic is in a corner on a broken pillar, so look along the edges of the pool rather than the centre.
Relic 9: Gold Path side chamber
In the Gold Path Trial area, look for a low opening in the wall and crouch through it. Place the bust on the pedestal inside, then return to the main area. The gate that opened will lead you to the relic.
Rank #3
Gameranx places this opening on the right-hand wall. The Polygon guide places it on the left, shortly before the hanging-pillar room. Use the room and the puzzle layout to orient yourself rather than the left-right direction.
Relic 10: Late-story room toward the airship
This pickup comes after the Giant boss fight and the cutscene in which Voss takes the Cat Mummy. Enter the room on the route that continues toward the airship, then check the shelf on the south wall. PowerPyx places the final collectible in a room that Gina unlocks after Voss leaves the Vatican treasury. The two guides describe different scene context, but both point to the same room, so use whichever cue you recognise.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you miss any of the relics?
Gameranx says the relics can be collected in any order and that none can be permanently locked out. PowerPyx says the Vatican collectibles can be collected after the story. Both claims fit together: several spots are sealed by story progression or by finishing the Fieldwork. If you cannot reach a relic yet, leave it and come back once the relevant story section or Fieldwork is complete, rather than assuming the item is gone.
Where the guides disagree
The guides use different names for the underground spaces. You will see “Tower of Nicholas V crypt,” “Lower Necropolis,” “Warrior Giant’s Tomb” and “Underworld.” They describe the same connected underground route, so treat them as one area rather than separate locations. IGN’s video walkthrough, dated December 9, 2024, labels its chapters the Library, Lower Necropolis, Fountain Underground and Secrets of the Giants.
The only real conflict is the Gold Path orientation covered under relic 9. Relic 10 is also described from two different scene contexts, as noted above.
