In Shadow Generations, the chests are called Collection Boxes, and they are scattered around Shadow’s White Space hub—not inside the stages. Each requires its matching Collection Key, which you find in stages. For a thorough sweep, check the standard hub as it opens up, then revisit the Doom Zone after the story: community completion guides report two more boxes there.
What counts as a chest in Shadow Generations?
SEGA’s manual calls them Collection Boxes. White Space contains three types—Music, Art, and Shadow’s History—and each box opens with a corresponding Collection Key to award its Collection Item. The manual describes the boxes as scattered throughout White Space. SEGA’s online manual

Collection Boxes and Collection Keys are different collectibles: the boxes are in the hub, while the keys are obtained in stages. A community achievement guide says there are three keys in every act and main Challenge Act; that count is guide-reported rather than confirmed in the manual. Steam completion guide
How to sweep the standard White Space
- Open the White Space overview from the pause menu. SEGA says the pause screen can show the hub overview and your current objective. Use it to orient yourself while searching. SEGA’s online manual
- Search newly opened hub sections. White Space locations become available as you progress, so an area that was inaccessible earlier may need another visit later.
- Look above, behind, and off the main path. The manual notes that Doom Powers help find hidden items and locations. Recheck platforms and routes that become reachable as you gain powers.
- Match each box to a key. If you reach a Collection Box but cannot open it, collect the corresponding key in a stage and return.
Check the Doom Zone after the main story
A Steam completion guide says the Doom Zone version of White Space unlocks after the main story and contains two additional Collection Boxes. The community map guide also labels two boxes there. If the regular hub seems complete, switch to the Doom Zone and search it separately. These two-box details come from community guides, not the official manual. Use the community map for exact marker locations
A player-made Steam guide by yoshi_yoshi_lol is intended to mark every chest on a map, including the two Doom Zone boxes. Its written page does not provide a landmark-by-landmark route, so consult the map images directly rather than treating the guide text as a complete directions list. Steam flagged the guide as removed or incompatible at retrieval, so it may not be accessible to every player. Open the Steam map guide
Player-reported hard-to-find boxes
Comments on that map guide point to a few tricky spots around Biolizard Castle. Treat these as player tips, not definitive coordinates:

The available official manual confirms the Collection Box and key mechanics, White Space progression, and the role of Doom Powers, but it does not enumerate each box’s coordinates. The Steam map guide claims complete coverage, yet its text does not spell out every marker’s location. For now, the most reliable approach supported by these sources is to combine the pause overview, a progression-aware hub sweep, a post-story Doom Zone sweep, and the map images where accessible.
