The Prophet outside the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil gives you a Wayshrines Map that marks one convenient shrine per deity, and the route below follows those marked locations. Any other wayshrine dedicated to the same Divine can also count, so you do not have to visit the map’s exact spots.
Start the quest and get the map
Pilgrimage begins with the Prophet standing outside Anvil’s Chapel of Dibella. Per GameSpot’s shrine guide, the steps are:
- Talk to the Prophet outside the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil.
- When he asks whether you are worthy, choose “no.” GameSpot identifies this as the dialogue path that grants the map. If the prompt in your game reads differently, follow the option that keeps you in the conversation until he hands over the map.
- Open your inventory and check the Miscellaneous section for the Wayshrines Map.
Gamer Guides notes that Knights of the Nine content can be started once you reach the open world, so you do not need to finish the main story first. The same guide warns that gaining Infamy during this questline may force you to repeat the pilgrimage. If you want to keep the relic questline on track, avoid committing crimes while you travel the route.
Route at a glance
The table lists each marked shrine, its general position, and the starting point and landmark that Gamer Guides gives for reaching it. Where the guide gives no starting point, the cell says so.

| Divine | Marked location | Starting point | Landmark or direction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arkay | North of Anvil, west of Kvatch | Horse Whisperer Stables | Follow the road north as it bends east, pass Brina Cross Inn, then head north |
| Mara | Northwest of Skingrad | Grateful Pass Stables | Head northwest; the shrine sits roughly below the “S” in Skingrad on the map |
| Dibella | South of Chorrol | Weynon Priory | Head south down the hills |
| Akatosh | Close to Bruma | Wildeye Stables | Head south and a little west |
| Talos | South of the Imperial City, near the coast | Not stated | Look near the Ayleid ruin Sardavar Leed, southwest of the “i” in Nibenay on the map label |
| Zenithar | North of the Flooded Mine, near the shoreline | Not stated | Lies south of the Talos shrine |
| Julianos | Southeast of the Imperial City | Not stated | On the east side of the city, cross the large bridge near the Upper Niben label and follow the eastbound road |
| Kynareth | East of the Imperial City | Not stated | Find a small pond in the Nibenay Basin and search its eastern side, around the “s” and “i” in the map label “Basin” |
| Stendarr | North of Water’s Edge | Five Riders Stable near Leyawiin | Follow the coast north to Water’s Edge, then continue north a little farther |
Finding the shrines in the field
GameSpot reports that these shrines have no quest markers. They stand above ground and look like circular gray stone ruins with pillars. Use the map labels and the landmarks in the table to orient yourself, and check the terrain before you commit to a route.
Akatosh: descending cliffs
The Akatosh shrine is visible from a distance, but reaching it means descending one or two cliffs. Approach from the Wildeye Stables route rather than trying to drop straight down from the ridge.
Rank #2
Zenithar: where to stop
Gamer Guides places the Zenithar shrine near the shoreline, south of the Talos shrine. The guide specifically says to avoid continuing as far as Bravil, so stop searching once you reach the coast north of the Flooded Mine.
Kynareth: the Nibenay Basin pond
Look for the small pond in the Nibenay Basin and search its eastern side. The map label “Basin” is the reference point, so line up the pond with the “s” and “i” in that label.

Arkay: partial tree cover
The Arkay shrine is partly hidden by trees. Once you reach it, activate the shrine from the center, then move away from it until your quest tracker updates.
Pray at the shrines and finish the quest
Interact with each shrine to pray. Gamer Guides advises stepping away after activation and waiting for the quest tracker to update before moving on. You need one prayer for each of the Nine Divines. The order in which you visit them does not matter, so keep track of which Divines you have already prayed to.
Rank #4
After the ninth prayer, Pelinal Whitestrake, the Divine Crusader, sends you a vision. That vision completes The Pilgrimage and begins The Shrine of the Crusader.
