How to use a Perfect Chroma Catalyst
The item database entry says the catalyst upgrades weapons to level 33 and is used at camp. The Curator only appears after you clear Flying Waters, so you cannot spend catalysts on weapon upgrades before that point.

- Clear Flying Waters.
- Return to camp and find the Curator, who sets up residence in a cave there.
- Talk to the Curator and select the weapon upgrade option.
- Choose the weapon you want to take to level 33.
Where the catalysts are reported
Each location below comes from secondary guide reporting. FinalBoss.io and PowerPyx are the two guides cited, and they do not always agree on names or routes, so check the in-game NPC and boss wording when you reach each area.
Flying Manor
FinalBoss.io lists catalyst rewards from Lampmaster, the three Évêques, Dualliste, and Clea. PowerPyx also describes boss rewards across the manor’s four paths. The manor is the location where guides agree on the most reward sources, which makes it the most efficient place to check first.

Serpenphare
Serpenphare is an optional world boss. FinalBoss.io and PowerPyx both list a catalyst reward for defeating it.
Chromatic Creation
Guides place this encounter in Renoir’s Drafts. PowerPyx describes the route: break a rock to open the way, grapple to a platform, then defeat the boss.

Endless Tower
FinalBoss.io lists the catalyst reward for Stage 11, Trial 3. PowerPyx also lists a Perfect Chroma Catalyst among the trial rewards.
Painting Workshop
FinalBoss.io lists the catalyst as the reward for the Fading Boy request. PowerPyx describes a different sequence: defeat the Lampmaster at the end of the workshop, then speak with the Faceless Boy to receive a catalyst. The two guides name the quest differently, so follow the NPC dialogue in your own game to confirm which request applies to you.

Lumière, Act 3
FinalBoss.io reports that Trash-Can Man gives a catalyst only if you interacted with him during the prologue. If you skipped that interaction, this reward is unavailable on that playthrough. Treat it as missable.
The Abyss: Simon
PowerPyx reports that defeating Simon yields two Perfect Chroma Catalysts. Lists that cover only older or narrower routes may leave this reward out, which is one reason totals vary.

Counts and what they include
FinalBoss.io states, in its 2026 update: “There are nine Perfect Chroma Catalysts in a standard Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 playthrough.” That is a guide claim, not an official developer figure. The guide does not say whether the nine include the conditional Act 3 reward, the New Game+ repeats, or side content added after older lists were written.

If you need a total, quote the guide and its date. Do not add up the locations above into a single figure, because the guides do not agree on every reward and the sum depends on which optional content you include.

Can you farm them?
The only repeatable source reported is the New Game+ Golgra reward, which FinalBoss.io says can be earned up to twice. The guides do not describe any other method for repeating catalyst rewards, so plan on collecting them from the locations above rather than from a farming loop.
What is and is not established
The developer has not published a list of catalyst locations or a total in the material this article relies on. Locations, quest wording, and counts all come from FinalBoss.io and PowerPyx, so they may change with game updates or with content added after those guides were written. Use the sections above as a route guide, and confirm each reward in-game before you assume it is there.
