GameSpot’s July 8, 2025 guide counts 50, including post-campaign Magician Yuelia; Game8’s surfaced guide title says 49. The difference may reflect whether Yuelia is included, so treat 50 as GameSpot’s count—not a currently verified, universal total.
After collecting a Strangeling, restore it at the Goddess Statue in Base Camp by spending Celestia’s Gifts. Then visit the Guild Office to recruit restored characters as Buddies. Companions can help with combat, gathering, and crafting. GameSpot’s location guide and the Strangeling wiki page describe the collection and recruitment process.
How Strangeling locations and rewards work
Not every Strangeling is found the same way. Story rewards and landmark objects are fixed finds; Shrine challenges and settlement quests require completing their associated tasks; green-chest rewards can be random. Shrine rewards are only one part of the collection.
The locations below follow the route categories and named examples in GameSpot’s July 8, 2025 guide. That guide predates the publisher’s Version 2.0 update, dated September 8, 2026, which added Snoozaland, a dreamland where maps and enemies shift. The available location information does not establish whether later updates added Strangelings, so use these as guide-documented locations rather than a guaranteed current-version 100% checklist. Settlement quest rewards
Help settlements in Ginormosia, then speak with the relevant NPC to start a Strangeling quest. Requirements can involve combat, collecting materials, or crafting. The available guide text identifies one example but does not expose a complete settlement-by-settlement list, so the following is not exhaustive.
- Big Ol’ Bomb / Flamel: from Panther Preserve in Moltana Wastes; the task involves defeating enemies at marked locations.
Environmental finds and cave chests
Some Strangelings are objects you can interact with in the environment; others are in specific green chests. Look at the named landmarks and terrain features below:

Random green-chest rewards from crowned enemies and Mimics
Green chests can appear as random rewards from crowned enemies and Mimics. A particular Strangeling is not guaranteed in an individual chest, so keep defeating these enemies if you are missing one. GameSpot recommends Nostruul Cave in southern Drakesnout Range as a farming spot because it contains several Mimics and Pandora’s Box.
- Pirate Princess Flag / Olivia
- Easy-Going Shield / Hilda
- Plushling Lady Doll / Rouge
- Corny Bottle / Jerry
- Sleepy Pillow / Sloane
- Cheery Wheat Juice / Grantz
- Fresh-Faced Helm / Ian
- Wholesome Yarn Basket / Taylor
- Snacky Pie / Nommie
- Secretive Mask / Sophie
The wiki also describes crown-marked monsters and gathering spots as possible sources. Because these rewards are random, a missed item is not evidence that a particular enemy or chest failed to spawn its only copy.

Post-campaign Magician Yuelia and the 49-versus-50 count
GameSpot includes Magician Yuelia as its 50th Strangeling/Buddy and lists her as a post-campaign recruit. Its guide says to finish the campaign, reach a five-star Base Camp rating, and give Flutter 50 Golden Celestia’s Gifts. It further states that, after the campaign, one Golden Celestia’s Gift is earned for every 50 Celestia’s Gifts collected.
Game8’s surfaced guide title calls its list “All 49 Strangeling Locations,” while GameSpot’s count is 50 and explicitly includes Yuelia. Yuelia’s inclusion may explain the difference, but that is an inference from the guides, not a confirmed reconciliation. Check the current game version and each guide’s inclusion criteria if you are aiming for a definitive completion count.
