The Black Flame clue is in Oilwell Basin Area 13, on the lowest level near the river. Inspect the suspicious black residue there to reveal the monster’s location on your map. The Black Flame is Nu Udra, which normally appears in the lava-filled Area 15.
How to start the Search for the Black Flame objective
Continue Chapter 2’s Long-forgotten Flame quest after defeating the Ajarakan. The objective changes to “Search for The Black Flame”. At this point, the game requires you to investigate a clue rather than follow an immediate monster marker.

Black Flame clue location: Oilwell Basin Area 13
- Travel to the lowest level of the Oilwell Basin.
- Enter Area 13 and move toward the river.
- Look for a suspicious patch of black residue. A nearby Flashfly can help identify the spot.
- Interact with the residue. This investigation reveals the Black Flame’s location on your map.
Where to find Nu Udra after investigating
The Black Flame is Nu Udra. After the Area 13 interaction, head to the lava-filled Area 15, the usual encounter location. Bring Cool Drinks before entering the hot area, as recommended by the walkthrough guidance for this route.
If Nu Udra is not in Area 15
Nu Udra can move from its usual position. If Area 15 is empty after the clue has been revealed, check these nearby lower-level areas:

The key distinction is that Area 13 contains the clue; it is not the normal fight location. Area 15 is the primary destination for the monster, with Areas 2, 4, 9, and 17 serving as fallback search locations if it has moved.
