Open Social Mode—press J on PC, or tap the corresponding menu icon on mobile—then open Emotes and select its second tab. Look for Dance 1. Players are reported to have Dance I from their first login, so you do not need to find a map object or complete a quest to use the basic dance.
How to find and use the dance emote
- Open Social Mode. On PC, press J; on mobile, tap the corresponding menu icon.
- Open the Emotes window, described as appearing in the bottom-right area of the menu.
- Select the second tab and look for Dance 1.
- Select the emote to dance. The guide says dance emotes can also be used for related tasks and challenges.
MobileMatters gives the second-tab instruction and labels the emote Dance 1: MobileMatters’ dance guide. Gamezebo independently describes opening the Social Menu with J or choosing the Emote box, and reports that players start with Dance I when they first log in: Gamezebo’s guide.
Dance emote versus dance activities
The basic dance is an emote in the Social Mode menu. It is separate from activities that involve dancing, have their own locations or schedules, and may award rewards.
Guild Dance
Guild Dance is a guild activity, not an emote unlock screen. Prydwen places it on the top floor of the Guild Center and describes it as a Friday activity that awards Guild Tokens and provides a guild-wide benefit for Guild Hunts; its page was last updated in 2025: Prydwen’s Guild Dance guide. Gamezebo directs players to Guild Center → Guild Activities and reports a 10-member guild requirement and a two-minute participation threshold for rewards. These operational details are guide-reported and could change, so check the activity in-game.

Dance-named entries beyond the basic emote are listed in The Hidden Gaming Lair’s emote database, but a list of names does not establish how each one is unlocked. The sources cited here confirm the basic dance’s menu location and reported starting availability; they do not establish acquisition methods for later dance variants.
