Tian Wen’s Back on Top quest asks you to mark four candidate outpost buildings, one each on Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, and The Blue Gate. Each mark is made by interacting with the building’s yellow quest marker. The targets are the Pattern House, the mural building in Buried Properties, South Trench Tower, and a white lookout tower south of Warehouse Complex.

Finding and marking each building
Dam Battlegrounds: Pattern House
Head to the north end of the map, north of Generator Hall and the Power Generation Complex, and stay east of West Broken Bridge. Yellow interaction markers appear around the building’s lower exterior wall. Choose one of them to mark the Pattern House.
Buried City: the mural building in Buried Properties
Buried Properties lies east of Town Hall and southeast of Galleria. Look for a low concrete building with a mural on it, some scaffolding, and a billboard behind it. Use its yellow marker.
Spaceport: South Trench Tower
Travel to South Trench Tower, which is north of the Launch Towers. The marking point is on the raised side of the structure above the trench, so do not go down into the trench to complete it. The PC Gamer walkthrough warns that Leapers or Rocketeers may patrol nearby and that a Sentinel may hang from the tower, so approach with weapons ready.

The Blue Gate: white lookout tower south of Warehouse Complex
Go south of Warehouse Complex and north of Maintenance Bunker. A hill partly hides the tower, so it is easy to walk past. From the Overlook Shaft extraction point, head north down from the hill into the small concrete ravine. Interact with the tower’s yellow marker from there.
What the quest asks you to do
Tian Wen’s dialogue frames the task as scouting buildings for future topside outposts: “Here’s a list of buildings that could make for potential outposts. Mark them with paint for us, so the crews know where to go.” A second line describes the wider plan: “We’re setting up new outposts topside! Or, planning to, at least.”

The marks are made through the yellow quest interaction markers. Walking past a building or placing a map ping is not described in the quest record or the PC Gamer walkthrough as completing a mark, so interact with the marker itself. If your quest log shows a different objective or prerequisite from the ones listed here, follow the in-game log.
Prerequisites and rewards
According to the ARC Raiders Wiki quest record, Back on Top follows three earlier quests: Celeste’s Journals, Eyes in the Sky, and The Major’s Footlocker. Its listed rewards are Renegade I, Stable Stock III, and 80 Medium Ammo.

Keep this quest separate from the Frozen Trail 2.0 Outpost project
The Frozen Trail 2.0 patch notes, posted by Embark Studios on October 8, 2026, add Pendola Pass, a new Outpost and Research Bench, and 22 new quests. They also describe a separate Outpost unlock project that asks players to bring a camera. The notes do not mention Back on Top or say that its four building marks have changed, so the camera requirement belongs to that new project, not to the marks described here.
The quest catalog at arcraiders.co attributes a different task, Our Presence Up There, to Shani rather than Tian Wen. If you are working through Tian Wen’s line, Back on Top is the quest to follow.

Routing and safety notes
- Spaceport is the stop with the clearest threat warning. The walkthrough flags possible Leaper and Rocketeer patrols and a Sentinel near the tower.
- Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, and The Blue Gate are described with landmarks and directions only. No threat warnings are given for them.
- No route distances, travel times, or enemy spawn rates are stated in the sources, so plan each trip using the landmarks above rather than expected distances.
How well these directions are established
The locations come from the PC Gamer walkthrough by Sean Martin, published November 19, 2025, and from the ARC Raiders Wiki quest record. Both describe the marks in terms of landmarks and interaction markers rather than measured distances. No statistics on finding times or completion rates are available for this quest, and the directions have not been checked against a current patch. Landmark names may shift after future updates, so confirm the yellow markers appear as described before you commit to a long trip.
