Sell-side access depends on the quest being active, so you need to start Pumpkin Peril before you can buy them. A second vendor, an Act 2 farmer near Cuanacht, is a fallback if the Roscree skeletons don’t show up.
Unlocking Pumpkin Peril
Pumpkin Peril is a side quest that follows Roots of Knowledge. Finish Roots of Knowledge first, then speak with the gardener Eogan at the Horns of the South Fortress to start Pumpkin Peril. Without an active Pumpkin Peril quest, the seed seller will not sell you the seeds, so this step comes before everything else.
Buying the seeds in Act 1 (Roscree)
The seeds are a purchase, not a crafting recipe. The item is not craftable, so you cannot make your own from ingredients. Use this route:
- Confirm Pumpkin Peril is active in your quest log.
- Wait until Wyrdnight. The Jolly Skeleton does not appear during daytime.
- Fast-travel to Roscree.
- Walk a short distance south or southeast of the settlement to find a small house. Community walkthroughs describe the location this way rather than giving exact coordinates, so expect to search the area briefly if the first spot is empty.
- Buy the Pumpkin Seeds from the Jolly Skeleton.
- Return the seeds to Eogan at the Horns of the South Fortress.
Why timing matters
The skeleton is tied to the night event, so a daytime visit to Roscree will not turn up the seller. If you travel there after Wyrdnight has ended, plan to wait for the next one rather than searching the town again.

Fallback: the Act 2 farmer near Cuanacht
The walkthrough for the quest states that an old farmer in Act 2 also sells the seeds, which makes this the alternative if the Roscree seller is unavailable. The farmer’s name and exact location are not confirmed by official sources. A Steam discussion thread names a farmer called Rhys at a farmstead near Cuanacht, but that detail comes from player reports, so check your own map and dialogue before relying on it.

When the night skeletons don’t appear
Some players report that the Roscree skeletons never spawn, or do not return after they have been killed. Players have not confirmed a cause. Work through these checks in order:

- Arrive in Roscree just before Wyrdnight begins, then check the house as soon as night starts.
- If the skeletons are missing after a full night, switch to the Act 2 farmer near Cuanacht.
- Reload an earlier save from before the night to rule out a spawn that was already triggered and then cleared.
The first suggestion comes from player troubleshooting rather than an official fix. The reload step is a general precaution for scripted spawns, not a documented remedy for this quest.
What happens after you deliver the seeds (spoiler)
Returning the seeds does not close the quest cleanly. According to the quest walkthrough, the planted pumpkin can sprout after about a day and turn into a Wyrdness-altered monster that releases damaging poisonous gas. The walkthrough also says Eogan’s body may be found nearby. Plan for that outcome before you assume the quest is finished.

Version and source notes
The quest and item pages describe the same Roscree location, but both come from a community-maintained wiki, not from the developer. Steam discussions are useful for vendor alternatives and spawn problems, but they are individual reports and may differ by platform or patch.
A community-compiled patch-note list reports an October 1, 2026 change to Eogan’s dialogue options that depended on where the seeds came from. That list is not an official release note, so check the game’s official patch notes if the dialogue you see does not match this guide.

The seed price shown in one secondary guide is not included here because it could not be confirmed against the current game version.
The seeds have no use outside this quest. Real pumpkin seeds or gardening supplies will not help complete it.
