On October 8, 2026, the community PEAK Map Today listing shows two capybaras in the Mesa biome. The listing does not publish coordinates or a written route, so the exact spot comes from the capybara marker on the current-day animal map. Because positions are tied to each day’s map, a marker from a previous day is not a reliable guide.
Where the capybaras are on October 8, 2026
The PEAK Map Today animal listing for October 8, 2026 reports two capybara markers in Mesa. The same listing is published in Spanish and French, and both versions report the same biome and count. Those sources establish the biome and the number of animals for that date. They do not give a landmark route or coordinates, so use the interactive marker to reach the point.
- Date: October 8, 2026
- Biome: Mesa
- Capybara markers: two (community listing)
- Listing sources: https://peakmaptoday.org/es/today/critters/ and https://peakmaptoday.org/fr/today/critters/
How to locate the marker on today’s map
- Open the current-day animal page at https://peakmaptoday.org/es/today/critters/ and confirm the date shown is the date of your session.
- Turn on the Animals layer on the map view.
- Select the Mesa biome.
- Click one of the two capybara markers. Its position on the map is the search area.
- Check that the map matches your run. The daily map page states that an existing run keeps the mountain on which it began, so a new rotation will not move a run already in progress.
Expected result: two capybara markers appear in Mesa. If the map shows a different biome or a different count, the page is probably a different date or a different map, so reload it and recheck the date.
Why the capybara position changes
The hot spring and oasis are randomized
Capybaras are found at an Alpine hot spring or a Mesa oasis. The PEAK Wiki community entry states that the location of that hot spring or oasis is randomized with each map seed. A fixed coordinate that worked yesterday may not match a new seed, which is why the marker on the current map is the only dependable pointer. See https://peak.wiki.gg/wiki/Capybara for the habitat and badge notes.

The mountain rotation resets daily
The PeakMap community project describes a rotation of 21 mountains and a daily reset at 17:00 UTC, which it reports as 2026 data. Its page quotes the rotation as: “PEAK swaps mountains once every 24 hours at 17:00 UTC.” These are figures from an unofficial fan project, not from the developers. The PeakMap daily map page is at https://peak-game.com/peak-map.
The live map is community-generated
The daily map is built from positions recorded by an open-source plugin while players traverse the mountain rotation. The PeakMap project describes itself as unofficial and unaffiliated with the game’s developers. Treat location details as community data, and check the date on any marker before relying on it.

Badge objectives that involve the capybaras
Animal Serenading Badge
The PEAK Wiki says this badge can be completed by playing a Bugle, a Bugle of Friendship, or a Scoutmaster’s Bugle near the capybaras. Bring one of those instruments to the Mesa marker and play it while the capybaras are in range.
Gourmand Badge
According to the PEAK Wiki, a Yellow Winterberry can be found on at least one capybara in a group. Look for capybaras that appear together, since the badge requires a group rather than a single animal.

Older guides and what they cover
PCGamesN’s guide, https://www.pcgamesn.com/peak/capybara-location, was published on July 1, 2025. It describes the animals in an Alpine hot spring and mentions the bugle objective. Its location advice reflects the game as it stood then, so use it for background on the animals rather than for where the capybaras are today.
