Each is reached through a flooded underwater passage blocked by a movable beam, so get the in-game Rebreather before returning to these regions. Once you have all three, take them to the Serpent’s Chest at Voss’s Camp in Sukhothai to claim an Ancient Relic.
Before you search for the keys
The Serpent’s Chest mystery begins with Voss’s Letter at Voss’s Camp in Sukhothai. You can collect the keys in any order, but the routes require underwater exploration. Obtain the Rebreather before making the return trips; the Vatican key, in particular, is available on a return visit after reaching Sukhothai and acquiring it.
Ancient Vatican Key
- Return to The Vatican and travel to the Excavation Site.
- Go down into the Underworld and head toward the area around the fallen bulldozer.
- At the flooded chamber, dive through the underwater opening on the west side.
- Follow the submerged passage, move the beam blocking the way, and take the key from the room beyond.
The pickup autosaves, so you can fast-travel onward after collecting it.
Ancient Gizeh Key
- Return to Gizeh and go to the Khentkawes excavation.
- Use the elevator and follow the flooded excavation passages toward the water-filled area near the generator and the route associated with the earlier electrocution room.
- Swim through the underwater opening, shift the obstructing beam, and collect the key on the far side.
Walkthroughs describe the excavation’s landmarks somewhat differently. If your route does not match those descriptions exactly, follow the flooded passage and the in-game key waypoint.

Ancient Shanghai Key
- Return to Shanghai and head to the canal near the broken bridge.
- Search the submerged passage near the southwest side of the canal.
- Move the beam blocking the underwater opening, swim through, and take the key.
Unlock the Serpent’s Chest
Return to Voss’s Camp in Sukhothai with all three keys. Insert and turn them in the Serpent’s Chest to receive an Ancient Relic. Completing the mystery also awards 250 Adventure Points.
