If you have carbide scrap to sell or recycle, specialist carbide recyclers and scrap buyers are the places to start, and they will quote you directly. If you want to acquire carbide scrap, none of the companies reviewed here presents itself as a public seller of scrap inventory. Their published material describes buying scrap, not selling it, so treat them as buyers and look for supply through local machine shops, tool rooms and manufacturers.
What counts as carbide scrap
Buyers most often describe carbide scrap as worn or obsolete tungsten-carbide tooling and wear parts: inserts, rods, endmills, drills, dies, rings, and components from mining and other heavy-wear equipment. Some buyers also accept softer material such as grinding sludge, swarf or non-conforming powder, but intake rules differ widely between companies.
A general scrap yard may not recognize carbide or grade it correctly. Call ahead, describe the material by form and condition, and ask whether the buyer handles it.
Decide which direction you need
- You want to sell or recycle carbide scrap. Contact the specialist buyers listed below for a quote. Their intake, grading and shipping terms are the ones that matter.
- You want to obtain carbide scrap. The buyers’ own pages do not establish that they sell material to outside parties. Ask machine shops, tool rooms and manufacturers whether they have worn or surplus carbide they would release, and confirm they have the right to transfer it. Availability, minimum lots and any price are unresolved until you ask.
Carbide buyers and recyclers to contact
The companies below are documented as buyers or recyclers. Each description reflects what the company says on its own material, so confirm current terms before you ship anything.
#1 Best Overall
- MAX 700 Holes: Under optimal conditions with proper cooling, this tungsten carbide drill bit delivers outstanding performance on CNC machines. Suitable for carbon steel, tool steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, and hot working steel < HRC40. Depending on material hardness, it can drill up to 400–700 holes
- For CNC Machines & Drill Presses Only: Carbide is extremely hard but brittle, making it unsuitable for handheld drills due to vibration and movement. Designed for high-speed CNC machines and stable drill presses for maximum precision and durability
- Enhanced Tip for Hard Materials: The 135° split point is ideal for drilling stainless steel, hot-working steel under HRC40, and other hard metals. Its reinforced geometry reduces cutting force, minimizes walking, and improves drilling accuracy and tool life
- TiAlSi Coating for Stainless & Hard Steels: Advanced TiAlSi coating delivers higher hardness (3200 HV) and heat resistance up to 1300°C compared to standard AlTiN coatings. Built to handle extreme heat and wear when drilling stainless steel and other high-hardness metals.
- High-Precision Carbide Drill Bit Set: Includes 1/16", 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" bits, perfect for delicate, precise drilling. Solid carbide construction ensures rigidity and maintains tight tolerances within ±0.003 mm
Carbide Kings
Carbide Kings says it buys tungsten-carbide scrap from sellers throughout the United States, including both small lots and commercial quantities. It names Charlotte, North Carolina as its receiving location. The company says qualifying commercial accounts may be eligible for freight coordination or pickup; eligibility and shipment requirements should be confirmed directly with the company.
Kennametal
Kennametal’s recycling program is offered in the United States, Canada and Germany. According to the company, it accepts hard tungsten-carbide scrap as well as some soft tungsten-carbide scrap. Confirm which forms are eligible, whether your location is covered, and how material is processed before you send anything.

- FAST DUST REMOVAL: Dual U-groove flutes clear debris quickly, reducing clogging for smoother drilling. The masonry drill bit set is ideal for DIY and home repair. Start at low speed with light pressure and let the bit cool between holes to extend its life
- 10 BITS IN 7 SIZES: This concrete drill bit set includes 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", 1/4" (4 pcs), 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2" bits, Extra 1/4" bits provide handy spares for common drilling tasks. Comes with a storage case to keep all bits organized and easy to find
- FOR BATH, KITCHEN & CRAFTS: Ideal for drilling bathroom tile, mounting mirrors, cabinets and grab bars, or making drainage holes in ceramic pots. For tile and glass, use painter's tape to stop slipping, drill slowly & use water cooling to reduce chipping
- 3-FLAT SHANK FOR STANDARD DRILLS: Anti-slip shank fits standard keyed or keyless 3-jaw chucks on corded, cordless and hand drills, plus drill presses for a wobble-free hold. Use rotary mode only, Not for hammer drills, impact drivers or SDS rotary hammers
P&T Metals
P&T Metals describes buying tungsten-carbide scrap from machine shops and manufacturers across Southern California. Its page gives a regional contact and an indicative price, and states that prices vary. Because the coverage is regional, it is most relevant if you are in that area.
Machine Tool Recyclers
Machine Tool Recyclers describes buying used or obsolete carbide tooling and wear parts through a bid-and-shipping process. Its own instructions separate hard scrap from soft scrap, with soft material requiring analysis. Its page was last re-indexed roughly three years ago, so verify its address, contact details and current instructions before relying on them.

Prepare and send your material
Buyers rely on their own packing and sorting rules, so follow the instructions from the buyer you select. Across the companies reviewed, two points recur:
- Keep carbide separate from high-speed steel. Machine Tool Recyclers says scrap should be clean and separated from high-speed steel.
- Keep sorted carbide in a sealed, dry container. P&T Metals recommends this for sorted material.
Then ask for a quote in writing and confirm the grade, weight method and payment timing before you ship.

Questions to ask every buyer
- Which grades and forms do you accept, and do you handle soft material such as sludge, swarf or powder?
- Will you take a small lot, and what is the minimum?
- How do you determine weight and grade, and can I observe the process?
- How long is the quote valid, and how is the final price set?
- When is payment made after receipt?
- Who pays for freight or pickup, and are there eligibility requirements?
Current pricing
P&T Metals displays a price of $16.50 to $18.00 per pound, dated 2026, on a page last updated October 1, 2026. The company labels this an estimate that moves with the market and says value depends on grade, quantity and location. Treat it as a dated Southern California example, not a national rate or a guaranteed offer, and request a current quote for your own material.
No reliable market-wide figure for carbide scrap volumes, recycling rates or standard pricing was established from the available sources, so avoid applying the P&T figure to other regions or grades.
