After Ice Belt, return to Sol Valley and take the Ice Chip to Myles in Fury Green. He gives you the Ice Shot. Next, go to Volt Forge to unlock Vi-O-La IC Mode, then return to Sol Valley and head to Flare Pool, where the Ice Shot lets you freeze the lava blocking the route.
What to do after collecting the Ice Chip
- Leave Ice Belt with the Ice Chip. Collect it from the crane near the area exit.
- Return to Sol Valley.
- Find Myles in Fury Green. Hand him the Ice Chip to receive the Ice Shot.
- Go to Volt Forge. Unlock Vi-O-La IC Mode there.
- Return to Sol Valley and travel to Flare Pool. Use the Ice Shot to freeze the lava blocking the way forward.
This is the recommended story progression described by Video Games Chronicle’s Metroid Prime 4: Beyond walkthrough, published February 6, 2026. It does not establish that optional exploration or other route orders are impossible.
Why the Ice Belt return route can be confusing
Ice Belt’s internal return sequence is separate from the next-region route. Nintendo Life’s Ice Belt guide, published December 8, 2025, describes riding Transport Tunnel C back to Tower 1 after the Vi-O-La IC Suit upgrade. That takes you back through Ice Belt; it does not replace the later trip to Myles, Volt Forge, and Flare Pool.
