To unlock a Nexus, find a large white question-mark search area on the map, use Guiding Light to reveal the Nexus, and stand on its round floor plate. A Cresset is unlocked differently: you reach a secret place, complete the trial or puzzle attached to it, and take the artifact. Once a point is activated, you can select it on the map and travel there, but only after you dismount.
Abyss Nexus and Abyss Cresset: the two point types
Both point types appear as travel destinations, but they are found and activated differently. The table below sets out the differences as described by PowerPyx’s map guide (March 19, 2026) and PC Gamer’s fast-travel explainer (March 19, 2026).

How to find and activate an Abyss Nexus
- Open the map and locate a large white question-mark circle. The circle marks a search area, so it may or may not contain a Nexus.
- If the markers you expect are not visible, check the map’s category filters. Filter menus are not documented consistently across platforms in the guides reviewed, so look for the map or environment markers rather than relying on one fixed sequence.
- Travel into the search area on foot or by mount, then dismount before you attempt to use the map for travel later.
- Use Guiding Light to highlight a nearby Nexus. PowerPyx lists the input as L1+R1 on PlayStation, LB+RB on Xbox, and Ctrl + left click on PC. A visible Nexus shows a blue glow.
- Walk to the glowing spot. The marker identifies the area, not always the exact plate, so search the surrounding terrain if you do not see the round plate immediately.
- Stand on the round plate briefly to register it. The point should then appear on your map as a destination you can select.
Unlocking an Abyss Cresset
Some Mysterious Energy circles hold an Abyss Cresset instead of a Nexus. Cressets are tied to secret locations, and PC Gamer reports that each may require a puzzle or trial before the point is available.
- Find a Mysterious Energy circle on the map and travel to the secret place it indicates.
- Complete the local trial or puzzle. The guides reviewed do not describe the individual puzzles, so expect each one to be specific to its location.
- Take the artifact. Per PC Gamer, taking it activates the point, which can then be selected on the map.
How to travel to an unlocked point
- Open the map and select an activated Abyss Nexus or Abyss Cresset.
- Dismount first. PC Gamer reports that fast travel cannot be started while you are mounted.
- Use the travel input shown on screen. PC Gamer describes double-clicking on PC and pressing Y on controller. If your control bindings differ, follow the on-screen prompt.
Sky-island fast-travel points
PowerPyx states that each of the 40 Abyss Restoration challenges unlocks a sky-island fast-travel point. From a sky-island point, you can skydive toward the surrounding areas. The figure of 40 is the guide’s own count rather than an official total published by the developer, so treat it as a guide-reported number that may have changed in later updates.

Using the map guide to plan your route
PowerPyx recommends using the eight bells to unfog the map, then collecting nearby fast-travel points during those trips. Its point list is organized by region. Because the guide itself notes that the day-one patch changed some point placements, check any listed location against the in-game map before you plan a route around it.
Version changes that affect point locations
Point locations and availability have changed through updates. The changes below are dated to the reporting that describes them, and they do not establish the current state of the map in October 2026.

- Day-one patch: PowerPyx reports that several town points were moved near Hernand, Scholastone, Demeniss, and Tashkalp, and that a new point was added at Howling Hill (guide dated March 19, 2026).
- Patch 1.00.03: GamesRadar+ reports that Pearl Abyss added more Abyss Nexuses across Pywel (report dated March 23, 2026).
Because of these updates, this article does not give a fixed total number of fast-travel points. An undated map or a total count from an earlier patch may no longer match the game, so confirm each point on your own in-game map.
