Learn Cloud Steps by examining the corpse at the foot of the long underground staircase beneath General’s Shrine during Jianghu Legacy 02: Echoes in the Shrine. It is an early-to-mid-route pickup, not the reward for finishing the quest or opening the statue chest.
How to unlock Cloud Steps
- Speak with the Wayfarer of Verdant Wilds. In the Qinghe Exploration menu, locate and track Jianghu Legacy 02: Echoes in the Shrine.
- At General’s Shrine, interact with Zhang San. Wait for the scripted collapse, speak to him again, and inspect the booklet he drops.
- Follow the clue to the cracked floor near the entrance. Jump above it and use Mighty Drop to break through into the underground route.
- Activate the Boundary Stone and take the fire arrows from the nearby chest. Use them to burn through vine barriers; later vines also lower a bridge.
- Operate the machine to produce a portable explosive barrel. Carry the barrel to the blocked wall, set it beside the wall, move back, and ignite it with a fire arrow.
- Proceed through the next doorway and stop at the foot of the long staircase. Examine the corpse there to learn Cloud Steps. Open the Mystic Skills menu to verify that it has been learned.
Where to look if you walked past it
Backtrack through the underground shrine to the corpse at the foot of the long staircase. That interaction is the pickup. The skill is not granted by the final quest screen.
How to use Cloud Steps
Cloud Steps has exploration and combat uses. Outside combat, it helps you reach elevated or marked positions. In combat, it performs a shoulder stomp, with particular relevance against cavalry or enemies with Unstable Poise.
- Confirm Cloud Steps appears as learned in the Mystic Skills menu.
- If the game requires it, assign it to an available active skill slot.
- Use the prompt shown for the skill on your platform. The route reference does not establish a Cloud Steps-specific button binding.
- If it does not activate, check the skill’s resource cost and cooldown, whether the target or situation is valid, and whether the current mode allows its use. These conditions can vary by skill and platform.
What happens after the pickup
You can continue upstairs to finish the shrine route. Later sections include Zhang Lang, a tablet, and a statue puzzle solved by using Kowtow three times. Those steps are separate from learning Cloud Steps, so you do not need to complete them to obtain the skill.
