The new region teased for Where Winds Meet is Hidden Mountain, and it is already live: the development team named July 23, 2026, as its launch date. The expansion adds a vertically layered mountain region built around Mohist clockwork, mechanism puzzles, and new combat content. As of October 8, the game’s official site also lists a Version 2.2 overview for October 11, but its feature details are not established here.
Hidden Mountain is the new region—and it has already launched
“Soon” is out of date. The Where Winds Meet development letter published July 19 said players could meet in Hidden Mountain on July 23, 2026. Xbox Wire had introduced the region in June as the game’s third major expansion, after Hexi and Imperial Palace.
The July letter describes Hidden Mountain as the map ushering in the game’s 2.0 era. Its central idea is a mountain landscape shaped by a Mohist mechanical civilization: exploration moves through valleys, underground caverns, ruins, and a clockwork city in the clouds. The developer says the region’s vertical exploration depth exceeds 2,000 meters; that is the team’s description, not an independently measured figure.
What Hidden Mountain adds
A large, layered map
According to the July 19 development letter, Hidden Mountain has four main areas, 14 sub-regions, more than 10 bosses, eight Jianghu Legacies, and dozens of side stories. The same letter cites more than 10,000 interactive NPCs. These are developer-published counts and descriptions.

Mohist mechanisms and new puzzles
The Mohist Hill sect and its clockwork technology shape both the setting and exploration. The Divinecraft quest series asks players to study designs, work out how devices function, and manipulate mechanisms to solve puzzles or open routes. A new ability, Celestial Seize, lets the player retrieve and manipulate objects from a distance.
Combat and broader 2.0 changes
The development letter also lists gauntlets as a new weapon and Bamboocut Kite, a martial art combining gauntlets with rope dart. It describes mechanical bosses, new lighting and environmental detail, quality-of-life changes to progression and inventory management, and combat-balance adjustments. The letter also mentioned some other features as forthcoming or still in development at the time; those should not be assumed to have shipped without later confirmation.

Hexi came first. NetEase’s February 27, 2026 announcement described it as a three-chapter expansion scheduled from March through May, spanning Jade Gate Pass, Liangzhou, and Qinchuan. It covers three major maps and nearly 20 sub-regions, with desert, ice-field, and grassland environments. NetEase counted 11 unique bosses and seven Jianghu Legacies, and described the expansion as free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and mobile.

The first Hexi chapter’s date appears as March 6 UTC in NetEase’s announcement and March 5 Pacific time on the PlayStation Blog. Those are compatible local-date descriptions. Hexi’s desert traversal and time-reversal puzzle mechanics are distinct from Hidden Mountain’s Mohist machinery and emphasis on vertical exploration.
| Expansion | Timing | Setting and structure | Emphasis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hexi | Three chapters scheduled March–May 2026 | Three major maps, nearly 20 sub-regions; desert, ice fields, and grasslands | Desert traversal and time-reversal puzzles |
| Hidden Mountain | Launch date given as July 23, 2026, by the July 19 development letter | Four main areas and 14 sub-regions; layered mountain environments | Vertical exploration, Mohist clockwork, and mechanism puzzles |
The counts and descriptions in this comparison come from NetEase’s Hexi announcement and the Where Winds Meet team’s Hidden Mountain development letter; they are publisher- and developer-reported.
