Public figures with documented WoW connections
| Person | What is documented | Evidence and date |
|---|---|---|
| Michele Morrow | Her Blizzard profile describes her involvement in the player community, multiple server-first achievements during Wrath of the Lich King, and running guilds. | First-party Blizzard community profile; it also reproduces Morrow’s own comments. |
| Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson | He discussed starting around The Burning Crusade, playing Horde as a Blood Elf, and enjoying PvE and Arena. | Blizzard interview published in 2018. |
| Robin Williams | Blizzard’s lead game designer at the time said the company knew Williams was an avid player. | Associated Press report published by CBS News in August 2014. |
| John Romero | He described spending years playing, including a claim of more than 3,000 hours. | GamesRadar+ reported his account while citing an interview with PC Gamer; this is secondhand reporting. |
Michele Morrow
Blizzard’s community profile recounts Morrow’s progression from receiving a copy of the game to becoming deeply involved in its community. It describes multiple server-firsts during Wrath of the Lich King and her guild leadership. The profile reproduces her saying, “World of Warcraft transformed my life in the most unexpected of ways,” and that the community supported her “from the beginning — before and beyond any other group.” These are her reflections in Blizzard’s profile, not confirmation of her current play habits. Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson
In a 2018 Blizzard interview, the professional fighter described getting into the game around The Burning Crusade. Recalling his character choice, he said, “That’s when it all started—I went straight to Horde, I made a Blood Elf.” He also spoke about PvE and his later interest in Arena, calling it “addicting.” The interview documents his enthusiasm at that time; it does not establish whether he plays now. Read Blizzard’s interview with Demetrious Johnson.
Robin Williams
An Associated Press report published by CBS News in August 2014 identified Williams as a notable fan. The report quoted Ion Hazzikostas, then Blizzard’s lead game designer, saying, “We knew he was an avid ‘WoW’ player, which was awesome.” This is historical evidence of Williams’s fandom, not a statement about present-day play. John Romero
GamesRadar+ reported Romero’s account of his past play, citing an interview with PC Gamer. It quoted him saying, “I have probably 3,000-plus hours in WoW,” and, “I lived in that game every day for five years. Six hours usually, every day.” These are reported recollections of an earlier period, not evidence that Romero currently plays. Read the GamesRadar+ report.

These examples do not all rest on the same kind of evidence. Morrow’s and Johnson’s accounts appear in Blizzard profiles or interviews; the AP report quotes a Blizzard developer about Williams; and Romero’s recollections reach readers through a secondary report citing another interview. That distinction matters when describing how firmly a person’s play is documented.

- A direct interview or first-party profile can document what a person said or did at the time of publication.
- A reported account can be useful, but its source chain should be made clear.
- An appearance in a game, an advertisement, or an association with gaming is not by itself proof of personal fandom.
