Epic Games’ published material does not rank regions by bot frequency or publish regional bot counts, so any single region named as the bot leader is an unverified player claim, not a documented fact.
What Epic has and hasn’t said about regions and bots
Epic’s support and documentation pages cover two separate things: how matchmaking chooses opponents, and how a region choice affects your connection. Neither says that picking a particular region brings more bots into your lobby. The phrase “bot lobbies” appears widely in search results and forum threads, but the official pages don’t tie it to any region.

Matchmaking and skill: the closest thing to an official bot rule
Epic’s current matchmaking support page says matchmaking considers player skill, so you are more likely to match with players of a similar level, but that this does not mean everyone in a match will have the same skill. It adds that as your skill improves, the skill level of your opponents may also increase. Epic Games Support: How does matchmaking work in Fortnite?
Bots are a separate topic. In its September 23, 2019 Battle Royale matchmaking announcement, Epic said bots would work alongside the new matchmaking system and that “as your skill improves, you’ll face fewer Bots.” The same post said bots would not be present in Competitive playlists. Those are statements from that dated post. They describe the system as it was launched in 2019, not the current rules for every playlist, so check current mode behavior before applying them to a specific playlist. Epic’s October 3, 2019 update described the rollout of the new matchmaking system to select regions for Solo mode, and said it accounted for skill levels across platforms and control inputs. That documents a 2019 rollout. It does not list current regions or describe differences in bot frequency between them. Epic Games: Matchmaking, Bots, Controls, and The Combine Update
Region selection: a connection setting, not a bot setting
Epic’s Matchmaking Region documentation says players can select the region where they connect, and that the closer you are physically to the selected region, the better your response time will be. The page is about latency. It does not say that a region has more bots or that changing regions alters bot frequency. Epic Developer Community: Matchmaking Region

Epic’s bot FAQ
Epic also publishes a support article answering whether there are bots in Fortnite. It is the most direct official answer to the bot question and is worth reading alongside the matchmaking page. Epic Games Support: Are there bots in Fortnite?
Why regional bot claims are hard to verify
Claims that Oceania, Brazil, Asia, Europe, or another region has the most bots circulate in search results and community posts. None of the official Epic material establishes any of them. A third-party gaming article from May 11, 2026 likewise notes that there is no official fixed rule naming a region with the most bots, but that is secondary commentary, not a source for a regional ranking. Position is Everything: What Region in Fortnite Has the Most Bots?

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Reports that a region feels botty are usually anecdotes. A single session tells you very little, because bot presence in a match depends on factors that players rarely see, including the mode, the playlist, the player’s skill and account context, party size, and the time of play. Epic describes skill-based matchmaking, but its undisclosed matchmaking logic is not published in enough detail to say how those inputs combine.
What a fair regional comparison would need
If you want to test a regional claim yourself, hold as much constant as you can:

- Use the same playlist and mode in every region you compare.
- Keep your skill level, party size, and platform as similar as possible.
- Compare matches played in similar time windows, not one evening against another.
- Play enough matches that one unusual session doesn’t decide the result.
- Record the region, mode, date, match count, and how many opponents or lobby-fillers you saw.
- Track latency separately. Response time is a documented regional factor; bot presence is not.
A test built this way can show whether your own experience differs between regions. It cannot establish a global ranking, and it should be presented with its sample size and dates.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this means if you’re choosing a region
Choose your region for connection quality. Epic’s documentation supports the idea that a closer region gives a better response time. Don’t pick a region expecting easier or emptier lobbies, because Epic’s published material does not support that expectation. If you’re seeing bots and want fewer, the documented lever is skill: Epic says bot encounters are tied to matchmaking and to player skill, and that opponents’ skill may rise as yours does.

Reader questions this doesn’t answer
Epic does not publish a current bot percentage by region, a per-playlist bot rate, or an explanation of how bots are assigned to lobbies. Those details would need to come from Epic directly. Until they do, any answer naming one region as the bot leader is a guess presented as a fact.
Use the official Epic pages above for the current rules, and treat regional rankings as claims to test, not answers to accept.
