Pick the Raptidon Matriarch graft if you want Inez to act as a healer and party support. Pick the Skeleton Crabble graft if you want her to contribute more direct offense. You make this choice in Inez’s companion quest “Better Than Nature,” and GameSpot reports that the implant cannot be changed once it is installed.
What each graft changes
Both grafts alter Inez’s Magic Bullet ability, so the decision is about how her main attack behaves in combat rather than a passive stat boost. The two options push her in opposite directions.
Raptidon Matriarch: a cloak-and-heal ability
With the Raptidon Matriarch graft, Inez’s Magic Bullet becomes a cloak-and-retreat action. She cloaks, moves back to the player, and throws down a healing mist. Allies who stand in the mist are healed. This turns Inez into a mobile combat medic who can keep a party alive while still acting in fights. GameSpot argues that most other companions already focus on damage, which is why Raptidon gives Inez a distinct role.
Skeleton Crabble: a more aggressive Magic Bullet
The Skeleton Crabble graft shifts Magic Bullet toward offense. GameSpot describes armor-piercing shots, while PCGamesN describes a volley of hot plasma that deals heavy damage. The two guides agree that Crabble is the damage-focused option, but they word the effect differently. Treat the exact shot behavior as unconfirmed and check the in-game ability description before you commit.

Level 15 research perks
At level 15, Inez unlocks one of two graft research perks. Each graft has its own pair, and the choice refines the implant you already picked.
| Graft | Lethal Graft Research | Medical Graft Research |
|---|---|---|
| Raptidon Matriarch | Healing mist raises the accuracy and damage of affected party members. | Healing mist clings to allies, so they keep receiving healing after they leave it. |
| Skeleton Crabble | Leaves a damaging plasma pool on the battlefield. | Places a healing-mist canister at Inez’s position. |
These effects come from GameSpot’s perk guide and PCGamesN’s companion guide. Neither source is an official mechanics reference, so the numbers and wording here describe what the guides report rather than measured results.

Which graft fits your party
The right choice depends mostly on what your group already has. Use these guidelines:
- Choose Raptidon if your party lacks healing or buffs, if you play through tougher fights where keeping allies standing matters, or if you want Inez to support rather than out-damage the other companions.
- Choose Crabble if you want Inez to add direct damage, if your party already has healing, or if you prefer a more aggressive companion who draws attention to herself.
- Choose Raptidon by default if you are unsure. It gives Inez a role the rest of the roster does not fill, while Crabble is strongest when offense is your main priority.
Do not confuse this with the later graft quest
Inez has a second graft decision in her separate quest “A Most Extraordinary Specimen.” That quest is independent of “Better Than Nature,” and its options are different:

The graft effects above are drawn from GameSpot’s Inez guide, GameSpot’s perk guide, and PCGamesN’s companion guide. Those are secondary guides, and the two sources word the Crabble shot differently.
