For most new players, choose the Golden Seed. It gives you an early Sacred Flask charge, making it the strongest broadly useful pick. Choose Stonesword Key instead if your early route depends on opening an imp-sealed area. The best starting keepsake is a convenience choice, not a permanent build decision.
How to choose your starting keepsake
Pick the benefit you are most likely to use soon. Golden Seed is the safe general choice; Stonesword Key is more useful when you have a specific locked route in mind. Another keepsake can make sense if its particular effect fits your plans.
- Choose Golden Seed for an immediate, broadly useful early-game benefit.
- Choose Stonesword Key if you plan to explore an imp-sealed area early.
- Choose a situational keepsake when you already know you want its effect, such as an HP talisman, spirit ashes, crafting pots, or consumables.
What keepsakes are available?
A keepsake is a bonus item selected during character creation. The nine choices are:
- Crimson Amber Medallion
- Lands Between Rune
- Golden Seed
- Fanged Imp Ashes
- Cracked Pot
- Stonesword Key
- Bewitching Branch
- Boiled Prawn
- Shabriri’s Woe
When is Stonesword Key the better pick?
Take Stonesword Key when an early imp-sealed dungeon or alternate path is part of your intended route. If you do not have a particular locked area in mind, Golden Seed is the more straightforward general-purpose option.

Does your choice lock you out of other items?
Guides describe keepsake items as obtainable elsewhere, so the choice is mainly about when and how conveniently you get the item. That broad claim is not verified item by item here, so do not treat it as a guarantee that every keepsake is easy to replace or available at a specific point.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why there is no universal best keepsake
The recommendation for Golden Seed comes from third-party guide comparisons, not an official ranking by the game’s publisher. Your route and whether you will use a situational item can change what is most useful; the available comparisons do not establish another option as best for every play style.
