Which Kirby game has evolving Copy Abilities?
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, released for Nintendo Switch on March 25, 2022, is the title confirmed by Nintendo to have the mechanic. How do you evolve abilities?
In the original game, the upgrade process is tied to Waddle Dee’s Weapon Shop in Waddle Dee Town. A guide from Nintendo Life says upgrades use coins, power gems, and blueprints. The guide’s steps and requirements are secondary-source details; Nintendo’s product page confirms the evolution mechanic and the 12 abilities, but does not provide this upgrade procedure. Does the Switch 2 Edition have evolved abilities too?
Yes. Nintendo describes Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World as an upgraded version with improved visuals and performance, plus a new story. Nintendo also says abilities in this edition can evolve. Existing owners of the Nintendo Switch game can buy an upgrade pack to play the Switch 2 Edition on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Life reported three additional abilities in the Switch 2 Edition in a 2025 update. That reported count is separate from Nintendo’s statement that all 12 Copy Abilities in the original game evolve; it does not establish that all three additional abilities evolve.

If evolving Copy Abilities is your main question, the original Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Nintendo Switch has the confirmed set of 12.
