Yes, an official Mortal Kombat game is available on Android: Mortal Kombat, commonly called Mortal Kombat Mobile. The newer mobile game many older headlines mean, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, shut down in 2024. The available game is a touch-controlled 3v3 fighter and character-collection game—not a native Android version of Mortal Kombat 1 or another mainline console entry.
Which Mortal Kombat game is on Android?
| Game | Android status | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Mortal Kombat (Mortal Kombat Mobile) | Listed on Google Play | 3v3 mobile fighting and character collection |
| Mortal Kombat: Onslaught | Service ended October 21, 2024 | Mobile-exclusive, story-driven collection RPG |
| Mortal Kombat 1 and other mainline console games | No verified native Android release established by the sources cited here | Console and PC fighting games |
The official Google Play listing calls the current app simply Mortal Kombat and identifies Warner Bros. International Enterprises as its publisher. Its package identifier is com.wb.goog.mkx. The app began as the mobile counterpart to Mortal Kombat X, but updates have broadened its roster and content across several eras of the franchise; it is not a direct port of the console game.

What does Mortal Kombat Mobile play like?
You assemble a team of three fighters and battle using touch controls, then collect and upgrade characters as you progress. Google Play describes a roster of more than 150 fighters, drawing on the series’ earlier games and newer era, alongside mobile-exclusive variants and guest characters.
Progression and events include towers, weekly challenges, faction and competitive modes, the Krypt, equipment, character variants, Brutalities, Friendships, and profile customizations. The game uses currencies including Souls and Dragon Krystals, which players can earn or purchase. Its competitive features do not mean every match is a synchronous, real-time fight against another person.

How to install the official Android game
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device and search for Mortal Kombat, or use the official listing.
- Check that the publisher is Warner Bros. International Enterprises and that the app corresponds to
com.wb.goog.mkx. - Review the rating, ads, in-app purchases, and data-safety information, then tap Install if you want to proceed.
- After installation, allow the game to download any additional files it needs. Launch it and follow its prompts for account setup or save progress.
Avoid unofficial APK download sites. Files from third parties can be outdated, split into packages that are awkward to install, or carry security and account risks. If the app does not appear in Play Store search, possible causes include device or OS incompatibility, regional availability, parental controls, managed-device restrictions, or a temporary store issue; sideloading is not a safe fix for those cases.

What happened to Mortal Kombat: Onslaught?
Mortal Kombat: Onslaught was a separate mobile-exclusive game, not an update to Mortal Kombat Mobile. Warner Bros. launched it globally for Android and iOS on October 17, 2023. It was a real-time collection RPG built around team battles, cinematic presentation, and a story about Shinnok seeking to regain power, rather than a conventional one-on-one fighter. Contemporary launch coverage described it as free to download: launch announcement and game overview.
Warner Bros.’ support notice says the game was removed from app stores on July 22, 2024, and its service ended on October 21, 2024. It is no longer playable as an operating service. Older articles and videos may call it a newly available Android game because they were published before its closure; see Warner Bros. support notice.

Compatibility, storage, and connection considerations
Google Play determines whether the current app is compatible with a particular device and region, so check its live Install result rather than relying on a third-party minimum requirement. APKMirror package metadata for a Warner Bros.-signed version 7.1.1 lists Android 7.0 or later and a bundle of about 1.18 GB; those are third-party figures for that package, not a guarantee for the current build or every device. Keep extra free storage available for downloaded game data. The package metadata is available at APKMirror.
Expect to need an internet connection for online-service features and account progression. A third-party app listing describes the game as online-only, but check the current Google Play listing or Warner Bros. support for the up-to-date requirement: third-party listing. Devices with limited storage, weak connectivity, or older software may have trouble downloading data or loading the game. If it installs but will not load, check free space and connection first, then update Android and Google Play services, restart the device, and check for service maintenance. Warner Bros. lists technical support at its support page.

Google Play listed an April 13, 2026 update when its listing was retrieved for this article. Version and update information can change; a third-party tracker reported version 7.3.0 in July 2026, which is not a substitute for the store’s current listing or official release notes: Chrome-Stats listing.
Quick Recap
Is Mortal Kombat Mobile the right game for you?
- A good fit: You want Mortal Kombat characters in collectible, team-based mobile battles, with solo progression and ongoing events.
- A poor fit: You want a traditional arcade-style one-on-one fighter or the full console experience on Android.
- Consider before installing: Ads, in-app purchases, randomized items, mature violence, online-service features, and character progression are part of the game’s structure. Player experiences with grinding and purchase pressure vary; the listing’s features alone do not establish how quickly any particular player will unlock characters.
