Nintendo Switch Online includes Mario games across its NES, Super Nintendo and Game Boy collections. The standard membership covers those three libraries; Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds Mario-related games in the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Virtual Boy collections. Mario games in the standard Nintendo Switch Online membership

Mario games that require Expansion Pack
Expansion Pack includes the standard NES, Super NES and Game Boy libraries, plus Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, SEGA Genesis and Virtual Boy collections. The following Mario-related games are confirmed in Nintendo’s U.S. listings and 2026 updates.

Nintendo named both games in its March 2026 Virtual Boy update. This collection requires Expansion Pack and, according to Nintendo Support, is available only in the United States and Canada. See Nintendo’s Virtual Boy update and Nintendo Switch Online FAQ.
What about Mario games on GameCube or Genesis?
The GameCube collection is Expansion Pack content, but its games are playable only on Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo pages covered here do not establish a consolidated current list of Mario-related GameCube titles, so check the live catalog rather than assuming a particular game is included.

Expansion Pack also includes a SEGA Genesis collection, but the cited Nintendo pages do not establish a specific Mario-related Genesis title. Neither collection should be treated as confirmation that any particular Mario game is available. Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch Online overview describes the included collections.
How to choose the right membership

If the games you want are only in the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance or Virtual Boy collections, choose Expansion Pack. For GameCube collection games, you also need Nintendo Switch 2. If your target titles are all in NES, Super NES or Game Boy, the standard membership includes those libraries. The Genesis collection is part of Expansion Pack, but no specific Mario title is established here.

How access works
These are downloadable game-library apps provided as membership benefits, not a purchase of individual cartridges. Use the relevant Nintendo Classics collection app with an active membership that covers its system. Nintendo says an internet connection may be needed periodically to verify membership. Its service overview says the libraries will continue to grow, so check Nintendo’s live collection pages for the latest catalog before subscribing for a particular game.
